Nope - no interest - the only apples I buy are edible..
I won an iPod touch and promptly sold it.

The iPad?

No way... once again the lack of features means its an oversize iPod touch.

Maybe in 2 years when they get it right.

Apple seem to bring out great ideas, but not completely thought out... eventually they get it right, but this gives time to other developers to catch up.

The next iPhone (the 4.0 model) will be what they should have released initially but this has allowed Android and others to catch up and I'll definitely be heading that way with my next phone. Probably a HTC or Googles Nexus One.

I get the feeling that Apple deliberately leave scope for "upgrades"... they make the fan-boys of all things mac desperate to buy the first generatio, and then slowly introduce "better features" so the larger public buy the next generations, and the fan-boys re-buy every generation. Maybe I'm just too sceptical, but it seems to happen pretty consistently.

Yes, such cynical manipulation of the fad-prone was apparent as part of Macintosh policy from the early days, which is why I went the PC route.
At least you could then do your own upgrades or even replace your own batteries - and the software didn't bleed you dry..

Dog_ger if you're still wandering around Homerlike muttering 'mmmmmmm shiny' waiting for the iPad release you might want to prepare to shop around before you buy...

As usual (Microsoft have been just as guilty) it looks like those outside the US will get well and truly shafted over the price and have to pay a fair but more.

I'll most definitely be going for a netbook now.

Have been watching the price of lap tops dropping here in Aussie Jas. ;)

Good.

Still waiting for the ipad thingy here and assessing the cost against a good Lap Top. ;)

Laptop/Netbook >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> iPad

iPad is just an oversize ipod touch.

Would be ok if you just surf the net and NOTHING else.

iPad is an oversized mobile phone without the ability to make phone calls.

Will stick to my netbook.

You might want to hang on and see how the proposed competition is going to affect prices too...

Here's an alternative you might want to look at Dog_ger...still probably not as good as a full-blown laptop but might compete with the iPad...
