I have just set up a plasma tv under my verandah and can get free tv to it
was thinking about one of those video senders/receivers so I can then watch fox and dvd's out there
any thoughts from this learned forum, any particular brands which are good or no good
do they work well

the tv under the verandah would be no more than 5 m away from my main tele

If you've already run coax and it's under 5m then a better solution would be to run a video & audio cable direct from fox to the tv.

Component = the best picture
s-video = good picture
composite = average

I wouldn't bother with hdmi ... too expensive for marginal gain over component.

It would be much cheaper and better quality than a video sender which will most likely only give you composite quality video.

the coax is only a short term solution, ie. I have run it from the wall socket to the outside tele through the sliding door and unplug it when not in use, I was trying to get away from cables

Video senders can be quite problematic and the quailty is poor. While they are easy to setup, depending on how big your plasma is you'll be disappointed with the result.

I used one and it was absolute crap ... it was well worth the effort to run dedicated cabling instead.

5m? Then it sounds like its just through one wall? Better to install a dedicated cable as Dedja said. AV Sender/Receivers are ok for small tvs, but once you get above 30 inch you definitely notice the bad picture.
