satellite broadband

anyone use satellite broadband in here?

being out bush cant get broadband through phone lines, looked into broadband anywhere (which is a line of sight company) but because some knobhead decided to build a monstrosity of a house i cant get that either.
just wondering what companies people use and what the speeds are like and price wise is it dear?

Satellite broadband should be an absolute last resort as it is extremely expensive. There are govt rebates available which make it affordable but if you cannot receive that then it's not worth it.

There are 2 types, 1-way and 2-way.

1-way is satellite down and dial-up up, while 2-way is satellite both ways.

Don't expect very high speeds either.

If in any way possible you can get wireless broadband either through 3G or wi-max then that would be a far better proposition.

Out of interest, where are you located?

at work i have adsl no worries (thats where im on safooty all the time)
home is kingston on murray. looked into getting wireless but signal is blocked by a new house.
can get an 8g plan 4 peak 4 off peak for $45 per month. can get the govt rebate luckilly

ive looked into the 3g set up from telstra etc but coverage where i am isnt brilliant and thats also expensive
