PC Overheating

might be a stupid question i dunno..

but is there any reason why a PC would oveheat even when teh fan is working?
and how many fans should there be..
its saying system temp is 30 odd degrees and pc is 98 degres

Perhaps the conducting paste, between the chip and the heat sink and fan, has dried out, or cables or dust are impairing air flow even with the fan working.
There are a lot of possibilities, including a faulty reading..

Had the same problem. amazing how much dust can get in there.
computer whiz, son inlaw, told me how to clean it out.
problem solved :D

I cleaned out my pc of it's dust once and it blew up 5 minutes later! True story! :lol:

Same here! Smoke came out of the tower and everything. It was pretty cool because it wasn't my computer. :D

I guess you have to be very careful you get it out, and not into somewhere where it could short something out. :lol:
The last time I did it I sucked out what I could with a special low pressure vacuum attachment, then used plastic tweezers and a small paint brush with isopropyl alcohol - and of course waited for that to dry out before powering up..

Put the hose on it, that should cool it off. If that fails, buy a cool room and put the computer in there. I hope that helps.

Yeah I should have been more careful but the PC was getting very old, I did it the poor way in just blowing it out and probably spitting all over it! I still swear the dust was holding it together though! :lol:

thank u everyone for ur help.... except smac!! haha

apparently it will work no problems some times then other times will say its over heated and shut up after 5 mins..

so not sure whats the problem.

this is all second hand info from someone else im trying to get help for so makes it hard
