Help please!
Downloaded one and it didn't seem right. Downloaded another and it's only a trial version.
What's the best software to convert CD audio files so I can put them on an iPod? Is there a good free one?

How do you do it?
I just downloaded some koyote software and managed to get the CD converted and into iTunes and then on to the iPod. Am I missing the obvious?
PS: only bought the iPod today

It's real easy.
Open up iTunes and then load a CD ... it does the rest for you!
Actually, before you load a CD, check the import settings ...
edit menu -> preferences -> general ... when you insert a CD
make sure automatically retrieve CD track name from internet is checked
click import settings and set your preferences.
... and that's it.
It will import the tracks into your music library, get the track names and album cover artwork if available.

Apple's native encoder for the iPod is AAC, but you can decode to mp3 if desired.
It all should work fine.

thanks dedja
That worked perfectly .... as it's obviously meant to! Doh
So you don't have to convert the files. There's an hour of my life I will never get back

No probs ... luckily that's one thing iTunes does well.
Enjoy the new iPod.
