Apple's iPad

Will you get one?

I certainly WONT!
It looks nice, but that's about it for me. What's the point? It has a HUGE list of omissions:

No camera
No flash supported web pages
Inability to run 2 applications at once.
No skype
No drag and drop
Apple file formats ONLY.
Itunes ONLY.

Despite the fanfare, there isn't much that's good or new about this thing. It seems like a giant iPhone that doesn't fit in your pocket and can;t be used to make phone calls/send texts.

Dog_ger will put his hand up.

I will get one.

Got to keep up with the latest technology.

Missed out on the iphone by 3 months when re-newing my phone contract.

Knew something was coming after a 2 years wait.

Learnt to be patient with technology in the zero's.... ;) .

I got a great phone at the time, that serviced all areas.... :D

But now I will get alien technology.... :D

I love the latest Iphone (didn't like the early ones) and think this Ipad is useless as tits on a boar pig to tell the truth.

I said it about the original Iphone Dogger, not the 32gb 3gs which allows you to send MMS and copy and paste text, those were my two biggest gripes about the original Iphone.
I see absolutely no use for the Ipad, a completely waste of space IMHO.
Can't play decent games on it and it does less than a Iphone.
Only application I could see for it would be for those who have sight difficulties but there's better tablets around that do more.

Not for me I'm afraid.

I think Apple's products are outrageously expensive and whenever I've seen them in a comparison test on things like The Gadget Show they only really seem to come out on top for looks which just doesn't justify the price imo so I'll be sticking to my plan to get a plain old netbook that will actually have the functions I want and will use.

JAS

I can see it being used in our house before the end of the year.

I disagree on the iPhone. Apple's iPhone is a brilliant piece of technology. The 3GS versions are absolute masterpieces. the only features I don't like about the iPhone is its inability to use flash based web pages and the need for iTunes.

Apart from that, the iPhone delivers style and substance by the bucketload, despite the hype around it.

The iPad is a complete and utter lump of junk IMO. no point to it whatsoever. Give me a notebook any day.

I agree with everything you say DA. Unlike it's pcs the Iphone compares very well price wise with other smart phones with the extra stuff it delivers. Add flash to safari and get rid of Itunes and you'd just about have the perfect machine well ahead of it's competitors IMHO. Mind you it also depends on what you want from a phone and which deal you get. If I could only get one on a Telstra plan or some of he others where you have to fork out close to a hundred bucks a month I wouldn't bother.

It's an oversize Ipod Touch that you can read books and newspapers on.

No multitasking
No camera
No flash - so many websites these days have flash

It will be like the Iphone... it will take them 2 years to get it right.

Me neither.

Psyber's probably right on other apple products though. Their iPods (touch excluded) are so far behind the likes of Creative, iriver, sony etc, all of which have built in radio, drag and drop technology and a far superior range of supported files, it's not funny.

Macbooks (or whatever the hell they're called) are impressive, but so grossly overpriced when compared to the exact same offering from a pc.

Generally though, Apple products do look pretty sexy. I do feel a touch guilty owning an Apple product though, as they have an attrocious human rights record when it comes to crowded factories and child labour.
