Dragon Age Origins - video card issues

Got this game for my partner for Chrissy and it refuses to work on the computer. It's a laptop with an Intel 945G Express Chipset Family or whatever (I only just started learning about this stuff a week or so ago).
Minimum system requirements for DAO on Windows XP: Core 2 Duo processor with 1.4 GHz or Athlon 64 X2 with 1.8 GHz, 1024 MB RAM, Geforce 6600 GT or Radeon X850 with 128 MB, 20 GB disc space
Now, my computer has all of this except for the Geforce/Radeon video card. As far as I can tell, the only feature of DAO that my Intel video card doesn't support is the 3D. However, most of the other games I've got on here also require a 3D video card, and they all work fine.
Is there any way to make this game work on my computer without having to try and install a new video card? The last time I tried to do anything to a laptop's insides I fried the motherboard.
