Same price as office works.

Personally would have paid the extra $30 to get 1TB though.

I bought a terabyte last week for the same price and that included delivery to my doorstep!

The Good Guys and Officeworks are fine to browse but buy elsewhere, I bought a router from msy for $60 that was more than double the price at Officeworks.

Found a netbook I wanted for my daughter at the good guys so I could try it out, then bought it online for $200 cheaper than what they were offering!

In my experience, I'll always buy on line for these types of things (if you know what you're looking for exactly) because you're not paying for sales people to roam the floor, rent, lighting etc, etc. Much much much cheaper in all circumstances.

Ditto. I'd rather not support local jobs either :P

Actually that brings up the old chestnut.Do u go and buy something you need straight away or save money and buy online .Sometimes online is delivered within 24 hours.
I understand local jobs means $$$ for the state u live in.
But saving $$$ means more to most of us.
I have seen this argument on other forums (not IT) that have Industry Sponsors. and to say buying online is a very bg no no !!

I don't feel so bad when it's IT stuff, as 99% of it is manufactured offshore anyway. It's just the local service industry and jobs that support them at risk.
Once I asked for a better price in a camera store, and the staff member went into a tirade about jobs etc. Didn't matter that they were way overpriced and trying to rip me off (same product cheaper in other local Bricks and Mortar store up the road....)

The biggest risk with imports is warranty (like Nikon AU wont honour O/S purchases on some products) sending back for repairs can be costly.

But for most stuff like HDD, memory sticks, Blu-rays, PS3 games etc no problems. Australia Post, local couriers (and Royal mail UK) get a lot more business from me than ever before. Free/1 pound delivery to the door is unreal...

btw locally, msy had 500g external HDD for $69 yesterday. They are booming, apparently opening more stores in SA soon.

If I was computer/internet wise, I would buy where the cheapest price was.

Unfortunately my era is : if you can see it and feel it, then take it home straight away, it's good....

Dog_ger is 53..... :D

I always buy online from a local (Aust) company.

MSY...just don't ask for customer service there?!?! I went in to get a 1TB hard drive some time back and they said that they hadn't "made them up yet"?!
