Laptop / Windows Vista

I might be buying my sisters laptop and it comes with windows vista... and they said ya cant change the OS on it, it has to be vista or something... is this true/

they said a few apps wont work with vista also which sucks

Untrue. Nothing to stop you from installing Linux and setting up a dual-boot system with Vista.

No reason you couldn't install a different flavour of Windows either - although this would co$t you. Perhaps the salesman meant that Vista is part of the package he's selling.

i dont know i only spoke to my sbrother in law about it... and he said to me something about it having vista and i said well cant i un install it and put windows xp on or something and he said no, it can only run vista....

My laptop came with Vista Ultimate, but I had the XP pro "crossgrade" installed by the dealer.
Microsoft were permitting this when I bought it.
There is no reason you can't install any OS you want so long as you have a legitimate copy and the device drivers for it with that OS.
