Help (again)

After months of fighting with Optus about the "known" congestion problem on the tower closest to me (I think it's Gilles Plains) They have finally allowed me to cancel my wireless broadband contract with no fee.

My problem now is that Im not sure who to head to.

Is there anyone that lives in or near the Windsor Gardens, Holden Hill, Gilles Plains, Hillcrest, Dernancourt area that can recommend anyone except Telstra for their wireless broadband?

Do you have a phone outlet? You could look into getting naked-ADSL.

Yeah, have the phone outlet but no tone, meaning I would still need to pay the $200 odd connection fee to get it connected.

Not worth it.

My boss got DODO, and they use Optus towers... price seemed ok, but I dont know if they charge you extra for roaming.

Naked means you use the phone line but have no telephone access. Sounds like exactly what you want, go check it out - Adam have it, presume a few others do as well now.

The ISP will connect the parts they need to connect, not sure if that includes a dial tone or not. But let them work it out!

I'm pretty sure you don't, that's the whole idea of naked-ADSL. Ring Adam Internet and make some queries.

IIRC you haven't got a tone as the line from the exchange is disconnected.

Adam will take over the line and use it for Internet not phone calls hence why
you can use existing sockets etc.

With Adam Naked, you also get the Voip phone and number thrown in too !

Saying you don't want a phone line because you won't use it... well you would, for Internet!
You won't make calls, no. Neither do I.

I would much rather pay the $20 a month (Home line budget) to Telstra and then pay for my internet which:

- Allows more downloads
- Has FAR higher speeds
- Is more reliable

Rather than the same amount for less, wirelessly, which:

- Allows very small downloads (unles you pay)
- A lot slower speed
- Less reliable and can fluctuate.

I actually have mobile broadband as well :) Haha. But I don't use it at home - only when I'm out on the road or something similar.

The only problem I can see with Naked DSL is you have to take your clothes off to use it. That seems like a major waste of time, especially in these chilly conditions.

Internode offer Naked ADSL too, although I've gome for their Ultra plan which supplies a landline and a VOIP line as well.

Bite the Bullet FC.

I asked Telstra to Install a Broadband cable but I don't want a phone line.

They Hummed & Harred.

I got what I wanted.

Broadband with no phone Line.

I have a mobile with Vodafone.

I think/know they are cheaper. My oppinion only matters when its my bill...

Telstra are the "Best"

With the most extras.

But you have to pay for it.

I just want broadband, and a cheap capped mobile.

Telstra mobile was too expensive for me... ;)
