If you don't mind paying the one-off licence fee, which I think was $29.95, MP3 Rocket has always been pretty reliable since my Limewire debacle.

I think when you are downloading torrents you can select what files you want to download

Yeah that is good advice. You don't have to download every single file in the torrent, in your client it will still mention the entire file size but just ignore that.
I still use Limewire for individual songs but it is pretty rare that I use it these days.

Limewire or Bearshare.
Haven't used Bearshare for a while.
I thought Bearshare was better.
Both are Free.
Mrs_dog_ger doesn't like me chatting with other women on Bearshare.

Fair enough.

I use emule, seems pretty reliable. Best to use Torrents when you can though - much more reliable than even the best P2P's.

How do you do that? I didn't realise you could just grab parts of a torrent / pack?

I use Utorrent zipper and when you first open the torrent a pop up window appears with a list of the files in the torrent and check boxes next to them. Uncheck the ones you don't want and you don't get them.

Wow, I'll have to look into that. I've always used Azureus - I don't know whether it would do that or not, I guess it would. Man, I remember downloading Icehouse's entire catalogue just to get Flowers & Primitive Man. I couldn't delete Electric Blue fast enough!

I think azuereus had the same feature back when I used to use it, but it was under the "files" section down the bottom. You can uncheck them or change the priority to "don't download" or something like that. Been a few years so the detail may be sketchy, but I am sure it was there somewhere.

Yeah I used to do it on Azerus or Vuze as its now known, but currently use UTorrent and that's much better and not as resource hungry.
I think in Azerus you right click on the torrent and it gives you the option somewhere there.
Do yourself a favour though and uninstall it and go UTorrent.
Utorrent gives you the option to choose diiferent files before it downloads unlike Azerus although there may be an option in Azerus to change that.

I also use Utorrent and I think it is brilliant. Best program I've used so far.
When you download the torrent and open it, it should open up inside your client and it lists every single file associated with that torrent and they are all ticked. Just untick the ones you don't won't et voila.
It's good for when you are downloading albums and only want a few songs, or if you want to download a series of a tv show (and you can't find them in single files) you can just download a few episodes at a time. It makes it a lot quicker and you can then watch the few episodes you downloaded instead of waiting to download 4Gb or thereabouts.

LOL I've just realised Azureus does exactly that. Just never noticed it before. Thanks lads

best thing about utorrent is when its running in the background it uses way less memory (RAM) than what azureus (vuze) uses.

Big time, that's the biggest improvement Ive noticed after switching, Azerus/Vuze was a resouce hog and there wasn't a lot of other things I could do with my old PC when that was running, now with Utorrent I don't even notice a visable difference in resouces.
