External drives and scanners

Postby Mic » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:22 pm

Just wondering if anyone has advice on what types of external drives (thinking of getting either a 500GB) or scanners (not sure why they vary in price/how they are different) to get as I will be buying one of each next week? Cheers.

I got a Western Digital, purposely paid $10 more than a Maxtor one was and have never regretted it, its a great unit.
For 500gb you'd probably get a Western Digital for about $120 these days.
As far as scanners go you can't go too wrong, Ive now got a scanner/fax/copier combo for about $150 which was an Epson, great unit.
Had a Cannon before and that was fine too, in fact if you just want a scanner I could probably give you my old Cannon.

I've been using Samsung HDDs and I have a couple in external cases I bought separately, and cheaply - the pricing of some of the ready made versions is unbelievable.
I'm trying to salvage an "HP Pocket Media Drive" for a friend at the moment - it fritzed itself almost as soon as the warranty was up!
[Ah.. the wonders of HP technology - they are good at that.]
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Where would I be able to buy a Western Digital for that price?

Not 500GB, 1TB for $159. Best deal I have seen, have been hunting for a while now. Only available for 1 week, starting today.
