It depends what you're after mate, definately buy on the web as you'll save a couple of hundred.
My daughter recently got an Acer Aspire which is a "netbook" online for $430.
Similar in the shop is $600.
There's some great HPs and Toshibas which are well over 2 grands worth in the shop that you can get for about a grand if not less online too.

Ì have an Asus Eee PC 1000H , very small 5+ hours battery life, bluetooth, wireless, webcam. I don't play games but travel a lot. Perfect machine IMHO

LG make a great laptop, some good bargains about for the avid googler. I bought mine from a NZ retailer, a lot cheaper even after having it shipped over the ditch.

The Dell deals you see in the paper every now and again are top quality when it comes to specs and support. Speaking to guys here at work (I work in the IT area but have no idea why....) they say they are a fairly good package...

I got an MSI Wind today, sorta like the EEEPC but I prefer this one.

We've bought a lot of Acers in the past year and I honestly couldn't recommend them - had lots of trouble with them, especially the lower-end ones.
