FREEVIEW

it's just the BS name they've given to all the SD and HD channels.

15 channels, but its still going to be 2, 7, 9, 10 and SBS

7, 7SD and 7HD
9, 9SD and 9HD
10, 10HD and OneHD
ABC1, ABC2 and ABCHD
SBS, SBS2 and SBSHD

OneHD is going to be the sports channel!

Sounds the same as the Freeview we've had over in the UK for a few years now.

Basically it's your terrestrial analogue free-to-air stations plus a few others broadcasting in digital format via either a set top box or an integrated tv/dvd. It's what I have rather than satelite tv. If your government going the same way as ours and planning to get rid of analogue tv and radio completely then eventually everyone will need either that or satelite tv. Our analogue broadcasts are now being phased out, by region. I know one area has aleady been shut down and mine is planned for 2010.

I'm pretty happy with the UK one. Reasonable choice of channels and others get added...in Jan we're getting one of the Discovery channels. Mine gets a little interference at times but I live next to an airfield so I expect that.

Regards
JAS

I'd deliberately not updated TV sets over the last several years, so have old 14" and 23" analogue sets.
When I've moved in the NY I'll have a good look at the HD digital market.

Country viewers will only get one additional channel - despite all of the advertisments telling us about the big suite of channels coming.
