Have I mentioned lately I hate this computer?

Is your antivirus programme one that updates itself via the internet everytime you turn the computer on? If not, it should be. They usually flash a message when they do it so you know. I use Comodo Antivirus, but AVG Antivirus, Avira, or Avast are also good, and available by free download. Just search for them by name.
If your existing antivirus will update, update it and run it.
If not, or if it won't remove them, Uninstall it and download one of the above, install it, let it update itself, and run it.
Also get an antispyware programme or two or three - AVG Antispyware, Ad-Aware 2008, or Comodo Antispyware are all free, but you have to update then and run them manually - except the Comodo one which keeps working . AVG updates itself for 30 days then stops doing so unless ypou payIn fact get AVG and Ad-Aware and run them in turn.
When you have it all cleaned up install the Zone Alarm Firewall, and disable the windows inbuilt firewall.
Good luck!
PS: I should add - don't use Internet Explorer as your browser. Use Firefox or Opera.
