Anyone had a look yet ? My street hasn't been done, but looks ,like the majority of Adelaide has.

All the photo's were taken when it was hot, as there are some good looking legs in the pics of Jetty Rd Glenelg
(check out Westpac Bank  , about number 54).

Interesting to say the least....

Yep.. had a look yesterday and i noticed my rubbish bin was still out the front...Mrs firstblood'S getting a bit slack there. And who's car was parked out the front when i wasn't home.:D Perhaps that's why the bin was still out the front. :D
Interesting that you can follow the arrows down the street and around corners and check out everyone's house. Has it's advantages eg.. if you were invited to a bbq or party and your not sure what the hosts house looks like, you might make up an excuse not to go if your not impressed. LOL.

I had a look yesterday, mine is there, definately summer. I was suprised at the number of rural locations there when not all of Adelaide is done.
A bloke I work with lives about 2-3 kms off the old Dukes Hwy near Kanmantoo, his place was there

Hey Punky, you're weeds need mowing

Funny thing was when I was scanning past Punkys house, one frame had his work ute in the street, the next didn't, then about 2 or 3 frames later it was back, quick mover.

The USA and Australia are the only two countries with streets done like this.

And the entire Tour De France is done, too.

Main reasons are the USA - well, that's where Google is.
And Australia - the company who actually designed the software and sold it to Google, is from Sydney.

Many countries in Europe are blocking the introduction of it, until they work out privacy laws.

I find the privacy issue with Google Maps to be something of a concern.

My wife and I have silent electoral enrolment, and the partnership details of a company we own suppressed with ASIC consent, because I have been stalked by a woman, and my wife was threatened. As she used to follow me around she would recognise my car if it appeared in a shot. Fortunately, my home is set well back off the road and the driveway curves around a grove of trees for about 80 or 90 feet, so all that shows in the current picture is the trees, the letterbox, and the front bit of the driveway.

I just have to remember to always drive in and not park out the front, and presumably not be at the letterbox when the garbos go by.
From the prominence of bins in the shots I assume those companies have the contract to take the street shots.. :?

Psyber,

How does this make for a privacy issue?

If this person could drive down a street and see your house (in better resolution) or browse online, I don't see it's an issue.

I think most people are confusing privacy, with ease.

I could drive around every street in Adelaide and it's not illegal. It would just take me a long time.
Or I could do it on Google Maps, and perform the same function a lot quicker.

Either way I can see the same things.

Psyber - Google has done nothing wrong legally. You can film/photograph any property you like (unless it's government restricted) as long as you don't step on property that is not public.

I'm not sure what your stalking, or bin duties, have to do with Google filming streets....
