Hi all,

Have recently bought a new dell laptop and am having massive difficulty in playing movies downloaded from 'mininova' through 'Bit torrent'. The files are all different and none will play through multiple media players. It was recommended to download 'k-lite codecs' which doesn't seem to be helping either.

Please can you help me.

Thanks

Definately sounds like a codec issue, also you'll probably need an xvid and divx player downloaded, k-lite used to cover most but in recent times Ive had to download some other codecs to get stuff to play, if you pm me I can email you the recent codecs I installed.

You've probably got to do some converting depending on what kinds of files they are?

Give VLC media player a go. It seems to be pretty universal in the codecs it supports

Cheers all, still comes up with numerous error msges such as files can't be rendered. I think it might have something to do with some of the files being composed of lots of 14mb files????

What is the file type? e.g .mp3 or .rar or what is it?

At a guess they are .rar files.

Download a program called WinRAR to open these.

Once open it should be an .avi file which you should be able to play.
