Ok...doe's any one know how to do a portforwarding thats simple and in plain english :D I have googled and found some answers but it's too technical for me to try...i have a cable internet connection that comes through my foxtel cabel and then it's wireless to 2 pc's. the modem is a motorola SBG-900....it's not a huge issue but i can't get to p2p like limewire or Ares. my daughter who is also connected can't use a chat box used on a forum that uses xat.com.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

I went and bought a modem that has uPnP because I could never get port forwarding to work - does the modem you use have this feature? If so, turn it on and let the software forward its own ports.

The modem I have, it does it but you can change the port by putting the IP address in the web address bar, and that brings up my Modem settings. I just go back in and change if necessary...

I used to have to port forward when I had a static IP no to get bit torrent clients like Azerus to work.
If I remember correctly there was some very straightforward instruction sites which I found via the forums on whirlpool.

http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... 0index.htm

Then from there just choose the program you want to forward ports for and you should get a step by step guide.

Tried that about 6 times Kahuna....all you get is a Pakistani who doesn't understand or doesn't want to know...the only Aussie i got couldn't help either...as long as i can connect to the internet and receive emails is all they are worried about. It's only a small issue, but what i need is some one to sit down in front of my pc and type in a code or 2..LOL without charging me mega $$$ an hour for what would probably be a few minutes work. :( :(
