Can anyone convert the geek talk for me on this unit?

I'm looking at purchasing either the TH50PV500 or THPV60A.

Can anyone make recommendations?

Nothing against Panasonic as I have owned plenty of their gear over the years but if you are asking for opinions,I would suggest you have a look at Pioneer 508XDA. $4500 in Truscotts catalogue and no doubt you could shave a bit off if you negotiate with them or JB Hifi. While not full HD ("only"1365x768) the picture is stunning. Truscotts also have the 50" Pana for $3699 which is considerably cheaper and the Pana is said to be full HD but I still think you should consider the Pioneer as it has a 5year factory warranty NOT an add on "extended warranty". If your Pioneer gives you grief in that time and it cannot be repaired in your home, they will take it away and leave you another until yours is fixed. Pioneer will also deliver and set it up your TV for you at no extra charge with your choice of table stand or wallmount. If you want the wiring concealed in the cavity* they will do that for a charge of around $90.
Sorry to sound like a Pioneer salesman but I am totally happy with my 507 and can't speak highly enough of it.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

type the model details in staticice.com and you'll get the best price going around. Negotiate with them from there to get an even better price.
