Nintendo Wii

Postby Wedgie » Sun Dec 23, 2007 9:28 am

Managed to get my hands on one for the kids for Xmas.

Just wondering what games people recommend for it?

I'll look at getting it chipped in the new year so better buy some games to keep the kids happy on it.

Already got the Crossbow game as my daughter loves shooting stuff.

Also plan to get Super Mario Galaxy and one other game, maybe Super Paper Mario.

Any other suggestions?

The sports one is a corker for family time - everyone can have a go at tennis, ten-pin bowling etc. And when you aren't playing you can laugh at those that are.

Have fun... :D

Ended up doing perfectly by the kids, they (and their parents) love it!
The daughter loves the shooting game as predicted, son loves Galaxy.
Ended up getting the Mario v Sonic Olympics as another game and the kids told me they got the games they wanted the most so did well.
Took the 2 controllers over to a friends place today and having 4 people playing tennis is an absolute cack!
Don't think I'll ever get the big TV back but hey, Ive still got my PC.

Played Mario Party today, not a huge fan, got bored of it on the DS, and the kids have played Super Monkey Ball on DS and PS2.

Played Wii Play at a friends place tonight and was a master at the 9 ball game.
Love the bowling game on Wii sports as for the first time in my life I can consistently hook a ball!

Got a quote on getting it chipped, $230. Sounds a lot but "if" I was to download games it would pay itself back after downloading 3 or 4 games. Of course I would only get it chipped to play games from other zones.

The Wii is fantastic, kids and parents love it, obviously doesn't have the graphics to match a PS3 but Nintendo know how to keep people amused.

Speaking of game consoles I was amazed to read the other day that the PS3 has sold more units than the PS2 had at the same time after being released.

the ten-pin bowling is quite good on the WII sports pack and there is a more detailed game out there, not sure on its name, but it cant be that hard to find on the shelves.

im waiting for lawn bowls to come out on WII.

Sports Pack is a ripper,Boxing a baseball the best for mine.
Guitar Hero is a good one for outdoing each other,a little costly as far as extras go though.

Are there actually any decent games for the Wii along the lines of Final Fantasy, Doom or Myst ???

The only games I've seen advertised on tv look like the kind of thing they might use in brain injury rehab...inflating a balloon, shaking and opening a champagne bottle, cooking a stirfry and some soccer game advertised by Ian Wright...not exactly inspiring and has put me off considering one completely :?

Is there/will there be any racing (ie F1, NASCAR, MotoGP) or sports (ie NBA08, NFL08) on the Wii? From what Ive seen so far its not much more than an active 1980s arcade machine.

For fans of the old snes, n64 and sega systems. You can download a selection of the old games from the WII Shop, ( providing u have a broadband connection).

$35 gets you 2000 points, Donkey Kong Country from the snes was 800 points i think, Mario Cart 64 was 1000 points.

ALl you need is the classic controller
