was at a mates on weekend playing fifa 11 and nba 2k11 and it wasnt even HDMI and the graphics were still bloody amazing

HDMi will rock your world then. FWIW, I've never connected my gaming console to the net for that security risk. Yeah, it limits opportunities, but I've still got my credit card number!!! 8-[

Component cables allow up to 1080i. HDMI cable will go to 1080p. The difference is not that great. Unless you compare on a 60inch tv. Most games aren't 1080p, but 1080i upscaled even on blu ray discs.

As a matter of interest, what's the most people have spent on HDMI cables?

Never been passionate about either machine. Just that mine and my mates both **** itself, so I prefer PS3.

My launch day XBOX lasted 3 years, which was a miracle considering. Amazing Microsoft's console survived that stuff up. Latest 360's are rock solid though. Not sure how well the PS3 will survive the latest events though, especially when credit card security is involved.

Thanks for the info all, definitely won't be getting a PS3, glad I didn't jump into buying one.
Might try and bribe the son by building him a better PC but I he insists on a console other than our wii it appears the X box would be the go.

FYI there hasn't been one case of C/C fraud due to the PS3 hack thats been confirmed yet. A hell of a lot of false positives though because people are finally checking their statements.

Also after this, the PSN will be the most secure online network.

I'm surprised that XBOX has not, and will not, upgrade theirs. Considering facts have come out that they've been hacked twice in the last 12 months (but kept it hush hush because they payed off the hackers).

Just shows that nothing online is safe.

Interesting, but hardly surprising given the poor quality of products that Microsoft have pushed out over the years.

Where the hell did you hear this? Without a source, you are just lying AGAIN.

Stop defending the indefensible. Sony will have a huge amount of lawsuits on their hands. Watch people turn away from the PSN in droves. You'd be an idiot not too.

Hmm maybe. A kid at my school, who is very much into all things PS3, told me his mum was contacted by her bank last week querying a $2000 transaction by Sony / Playstation which was obviously unauthorised. I'm inclined to believe him

Why would Playstation be putting through a $2000 transaction? If if was from the hackers the transaction would be from an airline, a computer store, kmart, the corner deli... anything but playstation.

I suggest you stop calling me a liar. Do you own research before saying someone you will come to regret.

XBOX Live has been hacked as far back as 2007. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security/xbox ... stolen/131
And in 2008. http://blog.trendmicro.com/xbox-live-accounts-hacked/

2011 - Not a hack, but still fraud. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/digital ... 1dzet.html

Even this person had his account hacked as of a week ago - http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/in ... 022AAfGvVK

I'm not defending Playstation. I agree, its quite bad.

But any online thing can get hacked. Ebay, paypal, amazon have all been attacked in the last 5 years.

Ebay hacked in 2007 - http://mashable.com/2007/09/26/ebay-hacked/
Google "paypal hacked". There's even sites that tell you how to do it!

So don't you dare call me a liar you ignorant ****.

Good point. I may have the details a bit muddled. Sounded reasonable at the time ;)

The examples you have used aren't hacking though. It's called PHISHING. XBOX Live can't be held responsible for stupid people giving sensitive information to others online. The fact is, XBOX Live has never been hacked. So you are propagating false information i.e. Lies.

Maybe you would like to send me a PM and tell me how I will regret getting into an online argument with you.
