went to HN yesterday when the footy was on and have decided on a LCD 40-42 inch with Fulll 1080HD, favouring Samsung at the moment....main reason is the well lit room the TV will be in, general consensus is that Plasma's arent real flash in that environment, going the Full HDTV will cost up to $4k but we also had a real estate agent over on the weekend and looks like we will get about $40k more for our house than we budgeted for  hence we are going to spoil ourselves....still got 6 weeks before I need to purchase so will hold off for the best deal

dh and me purchased a 106 cm plasma yesterday from Jim Drivas Good Guys $1890 - catalogue special. Took 30 mins to put together - dh is well pleased! and lets face it for the price if we have to replace in 10 years so be it.

I spent about $2600 on my Plasma this time last year.
If you told me 10 years ago I'd spend that much on a TV I'd slap you silly.

On my 21st birthday (umm, end of '98) I bought myself a present which was a 51cm Sony TV for $899. That was expensive for me back then!

I know of some plasmas where you have to fork out over $400 more for appropriate cables!
If you live south of town I have a mate that works in Electrical at Harvey Norman Noarlunga who does mates rates, can usually knock off something from the top or give you something extra if I let him know you're coming, he'll also give you very good advice on what is best.
From memory I referred Rushby Hinds to him for an electrical purchase from him and he was pleased.

Yep.

Well pleased.

(Bought a DVD/HDD combo, simply the best electrical thing i've ever bought for ease and usefulness)

Ask for Nuggett.

He even admits to knowing Wedgie, AND barracking for the Bays!

A few weeks ago he was working back in the pc section, and gave me mates rates on a trinket.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

I've had an LG 106cm Plasma since May 03, hasn't missed a beat. Love it. The only thing we'd have done differently is hold off and possibly get an LCD. The glass on the plasma makes it far more difficult to see on one side of our lounge because of the glare. The LCD's I've seen in pubs and clubs don't have the same glare factor.

Other than that, I've got no complaints, oh, besides paying top $ at the time of course!

Oh, Dutchy, when you do find the make and model you're after, tap it into http://www.staticice.com and you'll find the cheapest price in Australia. Watch for freight charges of course though!
