Completely missed this post before

Tech would have come out a year or more ago, to put a 1.5m antenna up instead of using TV antenna pole

There painful when I rock up and see they put the ODU on an TV antenna. Sickens me  Maybe you just need it extended a bit more. Trees and buildings are the two main reasons for poor signal.

Went with TPG and never will again.
You get what you pay for and in their case it was pretty well stuff all.
I've been with Internode for years and haven't even considered changing.

I was with TPG years ago and were good but could not compete with Internode in price for service.
I have today bundled everything with Internode to hopefully get a better service.

from what i know you can bundle your telstra internet with foxtel etc, but as we all know, telstra internet is horribly expensive, and you would also still have a home phone, which presumably you arent that interested in given you are thinking of getting naked DSL.

I would ring up telstra and see what sort of deal they could do you with the bundle, but chances are Adam or Internode will be much cheaper, even with your foxtel thrown in still

And because my foxtel is through foxtel itself, I will probably have cancellation fees!

torrents, cloud services like google drive or icloud, spotify possibly?

also if you have an internet service that still meters your uploads you should change to someone else. (guess you are with telstra)

Nah dont get charged for uploads, just wondering. Our uploads are around 11gb a MONTH, so to have 3Gb in one day just looked weird.

Im with Adam.

The missus probably left GoT seeding or something.

thats probably what happened. especially given it was GoT, your connection would have been maxed out seeding i reckon

you can go into your settings on your torrent client, and change the seeding rules. from memory i have it set so that the maximum it will upload is 1.5x of what i download.

I live in a notorious broadband blackspot and have been suffering on a very slow ADSL1 connection for years.

I've just swapped to a little known local wireless ISP who specialise in WDSL services.

If you are in broadband black spot or currently rely on Adam WiMAX, please consider www.nuskope.com.au

They don't service everywhere but I can highly recommend them (no, I don't have an affiliation with them).

I've gone from 6.5 Mbps down / 0.3 Mbps up ADSL1 connection to a rock solid 15 Mbps / 2.8 Mbps WDSL connection, which (apart from the initial setup cost of $249) is a cheaper service.

That's awesome.

The problem with the wireless services is over subscription. My Adam WiMAX was awesome as I was an early adopter but it has gradually gotten worse

It's different technology to Wimax, but yes, there can be congestion issues like any network. From my personal experience, NuSkope are putting in the right investment into their network to ensure that congestion issues are greatly minimised, something Adam have just about given up on.

You'll notice a huge difference if you swap from WiMAX to NuSkope's WDSL.

My brother got Nuskope after I got WiMax. He lives about 2kms from me, and his download speeds are way better. His "ping" is not any better though...but thats only going on his excuses for getting killed in Battlefield....so it could be good, and he's just shithouse.

What's the speed and ping comparison between you and your brother?

Which area?

Im in Playford Alive at Munno Para, and he's in Andrews Farm.

My speeds between 3mbps - 10mbps depending on time of day, if its a weekend, etc. Never drop out of PS4 multiplayer or get any lag unless my missus is downloading on the PC.

His download speeds usually up around 20mbps, and if it drops below 15, he thinks somethings wrong with it, coz it rarely happens.

Im not sure on our ping numbers, but he says that his is pretty crap sometimes. I dont really notice any problem with mine, going on bullet accuracy/effectiveness in Battlefield, which is his main concern.
