Dude, your battery is shagged.

Yes, realised I had the Ebay battery in there, put the original back in fully charged it, rode for nearly 3 hours yesterday with GPS on and it lasted the rest of the day without even going into the amber.

The batteries off ebay are dodgy! But good back ups...

I'm on a Samsung S (the first one) and nearly every day, each app I use crashes.

I'm trying to work out if it's the phone or the operating system.

Anyone else get Force Close on nearly everything - especially TWLauncher?

Dunno mate, might be a combo of both.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and the only app that crashes is one game I got for free, I know a few games don't work on the Galaxy but that's usually in the review of apps which I now check before downloading stuff.

Mate, I've got a Samsung Omnia Icon and it is the slowest POS. So slow that I can't figure out why I haven't mashed it with my bare fists yet.

I'd say yours wouldn't be too unlike mine and that the operating system just completely sucks balls. One month until I can upgrade at no cost, I just have to decide whether to get the Galaxy S2 or do I put up with my current POS until the Nexus Prime is released.

Samsung S is great if you leave it with the stock launcher (which I don't think is a bad launcher, just not customisable like the alternatives).

I've read that those seeking to fully exploit the phone should flash the OS and go with a stock Android rather than the Samsung tweaked (bastardised) version. Then custom launchers are less of an issue.

I've had about 4 Force Closes in the 6 months I have had the S, don't consider it an issue (and I've got all sorts of crap installed).

Quichey, I've dropped it (on purpose) a few times (with force).

I'm tired of it freezing and then vibrating to advise me that it's not working.

My missus has the G2 and it's fine, fast and no jams, freezes or annoying issues that mine has.

Next question is, how do I replace the OS with a stock standard Android one?

The original galaxy S with the original software sucked.

You need to download KIES and update the software from Samsung.

HA, that's great. KIES doesn't connect my phone! I hate KIES and I'm starting to hate my Samsung.

Can always root it and put on a ROM.

I've done that with my desire, mrs won't let me touch her galaxy though, but I did update it.

Gadj. Does your phone have the KIES wireless app where you connect on your pc via entering a url in a web browser?
This is what I now use as there is an issue with connecting with the traditional Kies via USB as I actually have a problem with my usb ports drivers. I undetstand this is a common issue and that its not a software issue.
