yep thats the best advice on here, ask for a cash price and dont do the interest free deals

I got a $4k TV dropped to $3k as soon as I asked for a cash price...

The first price on our TV was something around $2500(a little under I think) .By the time we got(well the wife I was the muscle man ;) ) we got the TV cabinet DVD recorder (delivered and installed free take note radio rentals) it was just under $2'500 .As I said JB hifi had the TV for $2500.
But if we had just bought the TV it was the same price as a 42 inch Plasma.
May not have been a top of the range model but it works well for us.Foxtel sometimes appears stretched then u see the same program on free to air and u understand why ,tiny picture on a large screen puts me off of Free to air TV.

Im in the market now, leaning towards a 200hz 42 inch Sony Bravia Z series.
Would love a LED TV as these look sensational but being new technology are over priced.
Best I can find my preference for is about $2700.
Any suggestions or thoughts or better deals?
Only want 200hz, would get a plasma instead of a 100hz.
Full HD only of course.

Yeah saw that, there's some going with a free smaller tv which really doesn't interest me. Pretty set on the bravia z series, best looking screen Ive seen between other Full HD TVs and LED TVs.

Cheers guys, yeah blacky, from what I've seen its the best tv down from a LED which is overpriced at the moment, looks great.

One place quoted me $2700 for the 42 inch but I have a mate in the industry who can do better deals so will see what he can do.

LED prices are interesting.
Household lighting firms are pricing up LED fittings just as TV makers are pricing up LED back lighting.
At the same time LEDs are making possible very cheap torches like one I bought recently for $3 including 2 AAA alkaline batteries. :?
Clearly it has nothing to do with the cost of production.....

Yeah mate, will definately be making sure its Z series, I can notice a HUGE difference in screen quality between the Z Series and W Series (and other LCDs in general).

Ha ha, ended up listening to my own earlier advice and went the plasma, full hd 50 inch Panasonic Viera http://panasonic.com.au/products/details.cfm?objectID=5413

Just couldn't bring myself to buy a LCD because of the screen quality especially with sports, even the 200hz screens, the plasma shit on it as far as quality goes. After looking and looking and looking I basically could only choose between a Plasma and a LED LCD. Got my plasma for low 2000s (got it for $140 less than cost!) but woud have had to fork out between 4 and 5k for a same sized LED LCD so no brainer in the end. Same screen at JBs was $3291!

Teaming it up with a new Panasonic Full HD Blu Ray sound system with wireless rear speakers to match the TV. ($260 cheaper than the already marked down retail figure)

Another nice buy of the day was a Belkin 8 way power board surge protector, price tagged at $249, I got for $54 (cheapest on the net is $80).

Retail is for suckers!

Mrs very happy, will be a big improvement on the old 68cm!

Now to ring up Foxtel and get the IQ2!

HD sport with the IQ2 is pretty sweet (a massive improvement from the regular sports channels).
Apparently all the Fox Sports channels will have HD equivalents from sometime in November too.

Yep, confirmed that today, how sweet is that? November 15 I think it was.
Got the Foxtel man coming out next week to swap IQs around. Pretty happy as the IQ2 and HD channels only sets me back less than $10 a month extra.
I'm drooling at the thought of so much High Def sports!
