But how big is a PS3 hard drive?
If I was recording HDD I'd want at least a terrabyte hard drive.
We struggle big time with 160gb for standard def.
And if you record in standard def you might as well as pick up a stand alone unit for under $200.
You can also buy hard drives as stand alone units which will play divx, etc and if you connect it to your PC either wirelessly or ethernet you're having even more fun.

Personally I took the easy option and just brought a nice 22 inch screen for my PC. The missus gets the IQ and $200 PVR and I download stuff as I need it on my PC. ;)

Same, I also use my XBOX360 to stream stuff from my computer to my bigger tv. Quite good quality too!

Cool, its good that they can be converted as hard drives are so cheap these days and 80gb wouldnt even do most for standard def let alone high def.

PS3's should be able to do that without PlayTV I think.

Yep I use PS3 Media Server all the time: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/

There's others like TVersity and the Windows Media Player can be used as well.

Yeh I use Windows Media Player to share with my XBOX360. Freaking awesome.

My 1TB external HDD is slowly getting filled with "backups". LOL

Sorry Lads a family wedding has seen me hardly at home since I got it, curently taping my first program, will let you know how it goes.

One questions though, I presume you can get AV cable splitters? then I can still use the VHS for taping FOX

And yes PS3's play Divx

Just put Fox into the VCR and then the VCR into the TV... ?
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.

Thought Id give an update here.

Firstly its fantastic, very easy to use.....at the moment I can only record SD TV cause the HD makes it stutter, SD is fine for now, compared to a VCR its like HD! By reading the whirlpool forums it looks like an update isnt far away which is going to solve this issue for Aussie users which will be good. Also the update should allow us to export the files from the PS3 as well.

My 40 gig PS3 isnt big enough if you record a heap of TV, luckily we record, watch and delete so its managable but Im going to have to look at an upgrade as Im sure there will be stuff Ill want to keep in the future (i.e. Bays winning the GF!)

They give you a sheet which covers your Blu Ray remote so you just use that, works well.

Anyway I highly recommend it and it sounds like you can now get on here with in a week for around $110

Looks like there is still no aussie release date

They've been advertised in a catelogue today for Harvey Norman but cost $200! Looks like you did well Dutchy, they're hitting the shelves November 19.

Can still import them from the UK for around $100
