Apple and retailers don't need incentives to sell there products because they sell products that work and don't copy other companies idea's. If there was no incentive for retailers to sell apple products then why have Harvey Norman being trying to get a full resellers license from apple for years? Selling 5million phones in 3 days I don't think you need to offer too many incentives or push the phone to customers.

I think you may find it's your provider that has control over your coverage..?

Go Telstra everytime for coverage, my friend. ;)

And you are with...? :-?

Didn't come in todays mail so hopefully comes tomorrow and I can play with it on the weekend and give you something on Monday.
I'm with Telstra, not much other choice, but the HTC has a blue tick which means it has a better reception quality in regional areas.

Yes I believe some phones work better in regional areas than others.
So MC I am also interested in your review rather than the propaganda from that kick.

I know - that's basically what I was saying mate.
This is the reason why salespeople in phone shops often look like they aren't pushing Apple.

I've had iPhones for years, then 3 months ago swapped to a Samsung Galaxy S3.

After 3 months I'm fed up with the constant hangs, buggy interface, and crap mail and calendar apps. Granted, the screen and camera is awesome and the freedom of android to customise craps all over IOS, but it's a phone, not a camera.

... so back to an iPhone I go.

I only want a PHONE but I want it to work in the middle of Tassie and especially up the Kimberley when I am wrestling crocks. Or even to say I have moved on as it is only the other half that needs to know.
I want to know which phone is working for our crew the best!

Sorry its been a while but my HTC One XL phone turned up last Monday in the mail. I had a bit of trouble with the sim card as my old one was too big, but I found out the IT guy at work here has a stack of sims in his drawer so I flogged one of those last Tuesday and got my phone going.
First thing I will say about the phone is that it is bloody huge! It has taken me a while to get used to it as when I press something at the top my thumbs fingers can't touch the menu buttons, but I am now used to that.
The speed of the phone in comparison to my old Wildfire is amazing. Is probably quicker than my home computer, can also type messages/emails about twice as quick as the old phone due to the bigger screen size and quicker reaction of the phone.
Graphics are amazing for a phone, and the sound is awesome. 8 MP camera is great and obviously takes some great photos.
Battery life is so so, but it does have to power this huge screen, normally can get through 1.5 days of moderate usage without a charge so its fairly manageable.
Coverage has been excellent.
Would highly recommend this phone!
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Also have to take into account it's a new phone so you are playing with it to see the features. Battery life will probably be better in a few weeks

Could always install a custom ROM that will get rid of the bloatware and give you epic battery life.

Any idea how to do this? Please bear in mind that I don't know much about this and wouldn't have the faintest idea how to do it.

Be prepared to be boggled by a bunch of technical jargon, but it's not overly difficult to do.

Just be wary though, if your phone is on a monthly plan with one of the telco's (and not purchased outright), you void the warranty by installing a custom ROM, however, if you need to return a faulty phone for whatever reason it is possible to reinstall the original factory settings and the telco be none-the-wiser.

I used a different method to the one explained in the link, but I'll probably do it this way now:

http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-custom-rom-android/

There's a heap of youtube tutorials on rooting your phone too.
