Sony and Rockstar Games this week denied that isolated issues with "L.A. Noire" are related to problems with their respective hardware or software, though Rockstar posted a few tips to help those with temperamental copies of the game.

"We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing 'L.A. Noire,'" Sony and Rockstar said in a joint Thursday statement. "At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither 'L.A. Noire' or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat."

Both companies said they are working to find a solution and urged those experiencing problems to contact technical support.

On its support forum, Rockstar said it has received "a few tickets about some isolated crashes/freezes," and posted a few suggestions to get the game working again.

First, users should delete their "L.A. Noire" game data from the PS3 Game Data Utility, or clear the 360 cache for those on the Xbox 360. Then, create a new temporary PS3 user or Xbox Silver Gamertag to "ensure that new save files are created," Rockstar said. Launch the game and try again; those on PS3 should try to play while signed out of the PlayStation Network.

If problems continue, check for scratches or other disc damage, and try out other games to make sure it's the "L.A. Noire" game and not your system, Rockstar said.

"If the issue is still happening, please click 'Submit a Request' at the top of [the support forum] and provide as much detail as possible about what PS3/360 model you are playing on and what steps you follow in the game when it crashes," the company concluded. "Let us know exactly what you see (e.g. freeze, black screen, return to system software, etc). and what you are doing in the game when the issue occurs."

Rockstar urged PS3 users to move "L.A. Noire" files onto a USB, transfer them to a PC, compress the file, and attach to the complaint.

"L.A. Noire" is currently available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles for $59.99. For more, see PCMag's hands on with the game and the slideshow below.

As my PS3 is new, I don't have the issue.

But then again mine is dust free and set up in an area with good air flow

PS3 has too many updates. Not the first time a game has been playing up after an update. I can understand the frustration some PS3 users are having ATM.

i assuming that they charge usa's amount... there much cheaper over there.... new release over there would be round $60-$70 while over here its from $90-$110... i could be wrong but thats my guess..
