SD or HD?

I recently bought a panasonic SD unit, as the HD was just way out of my price range but they seemed the best value when I shopped around. Should be able to drop them 10-15% from the sticker price as well if you are paying cash.

If HD is in your price range, go for it would be my recommendation.

The panasonic models I looked at all play DivX, including having a USB port so you can plug in a flash drive with your DivX video on it.

It seems a really robust unit, looks good and does everything it should and is really easy to use.

Everything I just said is right, except it is Phillips, not Panasonic.

Dont go LG mate, I have an LG DVD recorder and it was the worst thing Ive bought in my life, cost about $800 and had over 2 grands worth of repairs to it over 15 months and still didn't work.
Your best bet value wise is to get a divx player from Strathfield for $50 and buy a hard drive/recorder seperate.

Buy an XBOX360 - I love it... connects wirelessly to my PC and plays all my xvid and divx files in great quality.

Although I do run it through my Pioneer HDD/DVD recorder... its SD but works really well.

Purchased an Hitachi DVD plater when DVD players were Hi Tec.

Supposedly had a decoder in it...?

Could do everything at the time....

$1100

Always regretted it. Purchased a DVD player last month $45.

Does more.

Lost faith in Hi Tec....

Boolshit....

Same with a Sony 200 mgts 68cm TV.

$1500.....

Wow, have I made some mistakes....

Life is learning from your mistakes....

No-one really knows what is the correct thing to do..?

Must admit I refuse to buy new tech as soon as it's released. The way I see it we, the public, are paying over the top prices to the manufacturers so we can be used as one giant beta test.

I'll wait...let them iron out the some of the glitches/bugs and wait for the price to come down...it always does eventually. I only replace stuff cos it needs replacing.

Well done Mrs Mickyj...he fell for the old 'why don't you just buy the fishing rod now dear' trick hook, line and sinker

Mate I normally destroy electrical things or they last about a month .The cheapies that is ,like they say buy the best you can afford.
I think the retailer just about sold us everything that they needed shifted at a good price .Plasma TV(floor model), TV cabinet (still with sticker floor stock no for sale) and now a DVD recorder .The wife wanted the model below the one she bought they'd run out .And you guessed it he said you pay in CASH you have for same price so we got the one with a 160 gig hard drive .
Funny we got all the above cheaper than one retailer in west lakes had just the Plasma TV going for .
Lifes funny .

Nah its an LG .
Seeing she got the Plasma TV /TV cabinet/ DVD recorder at a price cheaper than a big name seller at West Lakes was selling the same Palsma TV I'll give her some leeway .Otherwise its her fault   I just stood there like a hired goon while she bought the plasma and the cabinet.
