Configuring a compatible broadband modem

At the moment i have a D-link DSL 502T which was supplied by AAPT. A family member gave me a Siemens speedstream 4200 that i want to connect to another pc that's located in a granny flat and use when i'm off line. I have checked the modem compatibility and it's ok with AAPT... So how do i get this speedsteam 4200 going...i have no software but have all the cables etc..any ideas?

I'm not sure you can use 2 modems on the one connection - even if you aren't online, the modem always is.

I've tapped out my knowledge (which may be incorrect anyway), hopefully someone else can help you more.

Thanks smack...i did once have a spare D-LINK modem that i used and we shared the internet but it died...i used to turn mine off so the other one could connect...sounds stupid i know but until i can get wireless that will have to do.

Ah, yep - that would do the job.

You should be able to find a user guide on the www somewhere, might help you out some.

You will need to "login" to the modem to change the ADSL (1/2/2+) settings as it probably still has the previous settings still saved.

You will probably need the user guide to do this, if you dont have it, you might be able to find an online copy.

Generally you connect the modem to the computer, open up IE (or Firefox) and type in the IP address of the modem (which maybe written on the modem itself). Then a page/s will come up and in there you can change the settings to your current provider.

A better way... sell one or both modems on EBAY and go wireless!
