Flash Drive Data

Postby Trader » Sat Oct 09, 2010 10:16 pm

Hi Guys,

I've got a flash drive i've been using for a while with no problems.
Tonight I put it in and it didn't pop up.
I went through my computer and it says it needs to be formatted.

I have data on there I need that will be lost if I format the drive.

Is there a way to save this data?

Thanks in advance.

I'd try it on another computer first!
It happened on a computer I had once and it turned out the problem was in the computer's OS not the USB drive.
However some cheaper USB's do suddenly fall over.

If there is a problem with the USB drive you may still be able to access the data by booting a computer with a bootable Linux CD - usually found on computer magazines then plugging in the USB.
I keep a bootable 32 bit Ubuntu distribution around for such purposes.
