Monfils was serving at 4-5 down in the 5th set and 30-15. First serve was in but when the return was hit by Kukushkin, a large tennis ball entered the court from the crowd. The point was replayed and I think Monfils double-faulted to then make it 30-30.

Kukushkin then won the next point to make it 30-40 and match point, followed by another double fault by Monfils to give Kukushkin the match 6-2 7-5 5-7 1-6 6-4.

It was a massive comeback by Monfils as it looked like he was on the verge of forfeiting after the first set with a back injury. He still was struggling to move in the 2nd set, but Kukushkin couldn't close out the set, needing 3 chances to serve for it and multiple set points before finally winning it. He then had a chance to serve for the match in the 3rd set before the comeback from Monfils.

Commentator Basil Zempilas put it beautifully - "Monfils had a fragile body, Kukushkin had a fragile mind".

Douche. Why does he sprawl himself out on the floor every time he wins a match these days? He did it in the first round too FFS.

Li Na coughs up four match points against Kim Clijsters, who goes on to win the second set and ultimately, the match, in an incredible collapse.

While it looks a mismatch on paper, am expecting Tomic to win the first or second set tonight against Federer before losing in four sets.

Federer takes the first set 6-4. Looks like a bridge too far for Tomic tonight unfortunately.

I expect Fed to win in straight sets.

Enlighten me.

He beat the world number 81 in four sets in the first round and collapsed and flopped on the floor like he'd beaten Federer or Djokovic 53-51 in the fifth set.

No shame in losing to Federer in that form.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Does highlight just how big the gap is between the top four male players - Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Murray - and the next level at present.

On the other hand, the women's side is still very open, any of about 6-8 of those left could win this tournament.

As he should have.

No doubt the boy has some talent but there is an exponential difference between moving from 200 to 40 odd, and then to the top 20, let alone the top 10.

Hopefully he stops listening to the crap his dickhead Dad keeps telling him and puts his head down, works hard, and shuts the faark up.

He is light years away from being number 1, not 2 years, and is in serious trouble of turning into another Scud if he keeps the dickhead routine going.

Yep, might aswell give the Top 4 a bye for the first week, they have hardly broken a sweat. All 4 have looked like they are just having a training hit, so far ahead of the rest its not funny.
Will be great watching Murray get embarassed again in a few days though.

Maybe because in early December he was in a ton of pain, couldn't train, could barely do anything and his ranking slipped to 180. He thought it might be over. Then he goes and wins in the 1st round of the AO after coming down from 5-1 in the set to do so. It wasn't the victory against some young guy that made him readct that way, it was the hard work that it took to even step on that court again.
