well the six nations has kicked off in Europe overnight
game one went to England with a 26-19 win over Wales

JAS - I can assume you will be keeping a keen eye on this comp

and our super 15 comp with the new Melbourne Rebels team starts in a couple of weeks
there have been some trials this weekend with the Crusaders beating the Rebels 19-14 after the Rebels were up 14-7 at half time

should be good comps all round in the lead up to the world cup

 How did you guess...I've just come hotfoot from the BBC website rugby pages lol. For the next few weeks my life is planned around the comp.

Starting in about 1 1/2 hours we have Italy v Ireland followed straight after by France v Scotland.

Full details of fixtures etc can be found here...

http://www.rbs6nations.com/en/matchcent ... esults.php

Not sure if this is of interest to any of you. They have created something called 6 Nations Radio this year...I'm guessing it might work outside the UK.

https://rugby.rbs.co.uk/?DCMP=OTC-6NationsFeb11
(the 'listen here' link is about halfway down the page on the righthand side)
The Official RBS 6 Nations Radio will be discussing all the main talking points around the Championship live every Wednesday at 7pm for the next seven weeks throughout the 2011 RBS 6 Nations. Hosted by John Beattie, we will welcome some of the biggest names in Rugby, including current and ex-players and Rugby Writers. We’ll also have fantastic giveaways including signed merchandise and match tickets. Plus you can also send in your questions to the pannel via Twitter (@RBS_6_Nations) and via mobile on 0780 00 00 390.

Listen here

If you miss one of the shows then don't worry, you can catch up on all the action here by downloading previous shows starting from the first week of the Tournament.

Just had a look at the website's T&C's and found this :? so if the radio/podcast won't work this'll probably be why...

Thanks, it certainly was Italy even had a 6-3 lead at halftime. But it was one of those games where the last 10 minutes needs a health warning. Leamy sin-binned with 7 mins to go, Italian try but failed conversion to put them 1 point ahead with 5 mins to go and a drop goal from O'Gara to save the day with 2 minutes to go Image  Italy were very good and we made too many mistakes. I could say it's because we had about 10 of our experienced players out injured but that's just an excuse...on the day Italy were nearly too good.

I honestly think going back to a northern hemisphere coach has done Italy the world of good...sorry Kiwis.

In the other game...

France 34-21 Scotland

Brilliant performance from England, and with the next 2 games at Twickenham, The grand slam is becoming quite a possibility, France next up certainly won't be easy beats though.

Could be a very close game today 8-[

Ireland are 6th and Scotland 9th in the IRB world rankings.

Scotland will be desperate to win and avoid being a chance for the wooden spoon.

Ireland will be wanting to still have a chance at the Triple Crown.

Good to see that all 3 matches this weekend began with a minutes silence for the victims of the NZ earthquake and their families.
