Final Score

Townsville 80
Sydney 79

Sydney scored the last 6 points, and had possession inside the last 24 seconds, but an offensive foul with 1.8 seconds left meant Towsville held on...just.

A dreadful last quarter by the Sixers again. Only early days, I know, but really wonder about the fitness levels in the group, seem to be struggling to run out games again. This was evident last season also.

Poor D on the perimeter allowed a lot of open 3s when the game was in the balance. But it was pretty disappointing to finish the game like that at home. Didn't Wollongong play in Perth on Friday? You would have thought they would be the team which struggled to run the game out against a rested 6ers team.

Townsville must have the highest proportion of gray haired or bald fans, I'd guess, if they watch their team cough things up like that regularly :? . A really frustrating game to watch as a complete neutral, with the Crocs throwing away golden opportunities all night to keep a very gutsy and impressive Perth in it throughout.

Really like the look of Gabe Freeman, though, his hustle and work through traffic is good to watch. Schenscher looks frustrated at times, as would I with a bloke hanging off me all night. The sort of group that, IF they can find a killer instinct, could easily push hard for the title with such versatility among the frustration.

Tonight won't be one for the archives, I strongly suspect, but Adelaide should sneak home in a low scoring, close one against a dangerous Sydney. A lot for the Sixers to contain all night. Julian Khazzouh is the sort of player that can really give Adelaide headaches with his size and mobility. Will be good to see how import Craig Winder responds, after starting slowly and raising attention from the referees :?

In the other three games, Cairns to be just too strong for a road fatigued Perth; Gold Coast and New Zealand to shoot the lights out (if this one is the first game this year to go over 200, I wouldn't be at all shocked) en route to a Blaze win, and the Hawks to upset Melbourne tomorrow.
