2012/13 NBL Season/Offseason news

Re: 2012/13 NBL Season

In my eyes the NBLs biggest competition as a spectator sport is the ALeague and at the moment the ALeague is killing it. ALeague has the potential for much bigger crowds, a huge tv deal with a free to air component just signed and genuinely talented players to watch in most games. The NBL just doesn't have this at the moment and with the ALeagues massive progress this year as the summer sport in Australia, it is going to be hard for the NBL to get its foot back in the door.

Looks like the 36ers have been screwed over by major sponsor Unleash Solar:

THE Adelaide 36ers have removed all branding of major sponsor Unleash Solar after talks to secure money owed to the club failed.

Adelaide has removed Unleash Solar from the players' uniforms and its home court ahead of tomorrow night's match against Wollongong Hawks.

Adelaide chief executive Leanne Grantham would not reveal how much money the club was owed but said the matter was with its solicitors.

Wollongong Hawks club legend Glen Saville in his 19th season today announced his retirement effective immediately. His career ends on a sad note after doing his knee on the weekend which was going to put him out for the rest of the season, the third Hawk this season to do his knee after Rhys Martin & Lance Hurdle. He was the Finals MVP in 2001 as the Hawks won their only NBL championship that season.

Awesome game on One tonight. Petrie hit a three right on the buzzer to send the game into OT with the 36ers going on to beat the Hawks 91-90. Some great shooting tonight by Petrie, Gibson & Coenraad for the Hawks.

Was glad I turned it on to watch with 5 minutes to go in the last, great work by Gibson and them first 2 threes to keep us in it then Petrie with the nice three at the end to send it to OT, hawks should of won in reg if Demos had hit those free throws.
Cant belive that Deleon played that had on Weigh to then foul him and gift wrap us the win in the last 5 seconds of OT.

Bit of a waste to pick up Chrisopherson he didnt even play in the second half from what the commentators said.

Yeah Deleon as good as he is is getting a bit of a reputation for boneheaded plays.

Christopherson is the worst import I've ever seen play for the 36ers.
