The Gong need something to make them even 1/4 entertaining to watch. This week's Cairns v Wollongong game could be the first in NBL history to go under 125 points. Since Ervin left the Hawks, they play one of the dullest game styles imaginable.

Agreed dreadful team to watch. Not sure if you missed Friday night's game on One between the Hawks/Taipans but both teams combined scored a grand total of 120 points. Glover played like six minutes and had three turnovers and supposedly the guy reckons he's going to be in the NBA next season!

Haha, I had forgotten this game - rightly so. Dreadful to watch.

Fairly typical Adelaide performance in the first half. They kept Cairns to 12 points in the first quarter, scoring 24.

2nd quarter, they scored 11 to 27

A fairly typical performance for them today.

Lost 86-75, after levelling scores in the last term. From that moment, a 20-9 run by the Taipans. Frankly, the squad just doesn't look that fit at times either.

May as well be honest about it too, Marty Clarke is not the man for this team. Too much of this need to share the minutes around, and not enough focus on keeping hot players on court when they are in a zone.

The 36ers board will meet in the next few days, and I would expect that Clarke's tenure may reach the end.

Yes, agreed. Do you know what the tech foul was for, it seemed to be crucial (following the play-by-play)?

Weigh seemed to go well at last, but once again Simpson seemed to get short-changed :?

Clarke was having an argument with one of the umpires who told him to settle down, the ump turned and started to walk away, then turned back and pointed to someone on the bench and called it. Not sure if it was Clarke himself or someone else, but was the turning point in the game.

Don't know why I bothered wasting my money to go today. We just don't have enough quality, end of story. Loughton and Wilson made us look stupid at times.

Clarke = gone. Bring back Smyth.

I admit this is a Dream Team related question but does anybody know why Diamon is playing less than 20 minutes recently. Is he maybe injured or is Clark letting the season go and giving court time to players who will be their next year?

Is there any reason why we wouldn't try to re-sign him? First time I've seen him live and he looked good.

Pag I agree.

I'd love to see him back next season. I am more fishing around for reasons behind his low minutes on court. If we need to win every game why isn't he playing more minutes?

So my speculation with no foundation was that because he has looked so good he will be on his bike next season getting more money elsewhere. Ira Clark and Gary Ervin from last season are off in other leagues this season for example.

I think you might be on to something Hondo. Simpson spent too long on the bench in the 4th and they made their run at that time when we couldn't buy a basket.

After the hot first quarter the 36ers were outscored 75-51 over the last three quarters.

Hopefully you're right CK the Marty Clarke experiment needs to come to an end.

I think its a two-fold thing:

- Not having seen it, but knowing the primary reason he left Perth, I suspect there is a clause in Stephen Weigh's contract relating to minimum minutes played per game. He leads the NBL in average minutes played and often - not so much yesterday - the form doesn't warrant that. To keep him out there for so long means the structures have to change in other areas, and Simpson would be one of those that suffers unnecessarily.

- Clarke's obsession with the "every player wins a prize" mentality in court time, which often means that players in hot streaks - Ng often suffers here - get taken off, to bring on the younger player. Fine for the AIS. Not fine for NBL.

The Wollongong Hawks have announced they've signed former Tigers/Taipans/Blaze import Ayinde Ubaka for the remainder of the season.

Should at least make Friday night's Hawks/Tigers game a bit interesting.
