ballinger back at his best, you would think those 2 would be a good combo

This is becoming one of the big mysteries of the NBL season at present, just what on earth is wrong there. If he is injured, he shouldn't be playing, but yesterday, he played nearly 21 minutes, for 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover, 1 block and 2 points. He has been in this funk all season, and unlike the AFL/SANFL, there isn't the luxury of dropping him to find form. Don't know what is going on there, but he is totally out of sorts. Almost wonder if it is connected to the coaching - in terms of not being happy here at present.

Agreed on Grant, Johno - he has been one of the finds of the season so far. Certainly been great for my DreamTeam - had him from the start at $90K, now up to nearly $170K :)

I was talking to Adam at my lads cricket on saturday, he said he was feeling the best he had in a long time. Never actually stood next to him before, hes a man mountain. Im 6'4 and I felt small. Really nice bloke though.

Don't forget Ballinger didn't have a preseason, so it is going to take a fair bit of time to get back to some of his previous form.

In terms of NBL big men I'd have Khazzouh & Wilkinson ahead of Simpson.

Jerai Grant is really making strides though, like Carfino/Gaze said during last night's game he seems to improve by the game.

Wilkinson has been a little down on his usual numbers this year, not sure if that is due to a slight change in role of sorts.

Its funny with New Zealand - the one bloke that rarely seems to get the accolades there is Thomas Abercrombie, but the improvement he has shown in the last 24 months has been incredible. Really important to their structure and keeps taking his game to new levels. Usually when he is on song, they win.

This sounds more like agent shenanigans than reality but supposedly there is NBA interest in Sydney Kings Julian Khazzouh and Aaron Bruce according to this article today in The Daily Telegraph:

And former woeful 36ers import Ron Howard has been given a training camp invite by the Milwaukee Bucks.

100 all. We're going to overtime.

Johnson fouled out with 1 second to go to allow Khazzouh to hit 2 free throws to tie the game.

Hard to beat a team with a player like Khazzouh having that game:

- 20 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 blocks.

This business with Adam Ballinger has to get sorted out soon, whatever it is - injury or something else behind the scenes. As mentioned, 3:57 court time for 5 points, 1 rebound.

The Ballinger thing needs to get sorted and someone needs to pull Helliwell aside and give him both barrels.

Seven foot and built like a beast yet couldn't manage a single rebound in 27 minutes of court time

December 2011
CAPTAIN OUT FOR CLASH AGAINST THE NEW ZEALAND BREAKERS
Adam Ballinger will miss Sunday’s clash against the New Zealand after injuring his left ankle during the match against the Sydney Kings on Thursday night in Sydney.
Tests will be conducted later this afternoon, with results not expected until Monday.
It is a blow to the team who lost the game in overtime by four points in Sydney last night.
The team is regrouping and planning their strategy to contain the top team in Sunday afternoon’s 4pm tip off.
Leeanne Grantham, CEO says that Ballinger’s injury is a setback to the club.
“Having Adam injure his ankle last night is disappointing for him and for the Adelaide 36ers,”
“The Adelaide 36ers are doing everything possible to supply the best medical care for Adam, firstly with a MRI scan, which will be happening later this afternoon,”
“When we receive the results on Monday, the club’s medical team will assess the outcome of the scan and work to provide him with the best care and options to get him back on court.”

That's disappointing for Ballinger in that case, I wasn't aware he had been injured early.

On a side note, it's nice to see the club communicating properly with its fans again. Leeanne Grantham certainly adds a little more professionalism than her predecessor in that regard, and I'll leave it at that for the moment.
