I know it won't happen but is it time to cut Fergusson loose and pick up a more quality import? We are almost a player short with him in the team and with DJ and Mitch injured we need another quality player.

For me the experiment has not worked

It's a funny one because I never expected much out of Ferguson and thought it was a strange signing in that other guys who've come straight out of high school and played against men overseas have struggled even Brandon Jennings had a poor year in Italy before being drafted. Supposedly Ferguson is on very good money this season mainly from his sponsor (Under Armour I think?) so the 36ers themselves aren't paying him big money.

I can see why the club took the gamble with a young team not expected to be a contender in the hope he might come good later in the season but there is probably a bit too much tied up in this experiment to release him at any point other than maybe if he was acting up or whatever which he isn't and seems like a good kid willing to put his head down and keep working hard so I doubt he will be released no matter what on court production we get from him.

Round 6 results:

Brisbane 86 (Craig 18, Beal 16, Kickert 15, Bairstow 11) def Sydney 73 (Newley 27, Lisch 17, Whittington 13)

Cairns 86 (Gliddon 25, Worthington 17, Edwin 14) def NZ Breakers 79 (Abercrombie 18, Webster 17, Penney 16)

Illawarra 85 (Clarke 13, Norton 13, Coenraad 11, Ellis 11, Harris 11) def Adelaide 74 (Hodgson 18, Sobey 16, Randle 11, Teys 10)

Sydney 87 (Lisch 30, Cadee 26, Newley 12) def Melbourne 71 (Andersen 12, Wesley 12, Adnam 11, Moore 10, Tomlinson 10)

Brisbane 84 (Jervis 12, Kickert 12, Craig 11, Gibson 11, Petrie 11) def Cairns 76 (Heuir 15, Worthington 14, Edwin 13, McCarron 12)

NZ Breakers 87 (Webster 20, Abercrombie 17, Mitchell 16, Penney 15) def Perth 86 (OT) (Knight 24, Prather 20, Johnson 12)

Interesting end to the Cairns vs Brisbane game today when the lights went out at the stadium due to severe storms in Cairns with 1:34 to go in the 4th and the Bullets up by 8 points. They weren't able to get the lights back on so turned to the FIBA rule book which awarded the game to the Bullets. The Taipans have put in a protest to the NBL over the decision.

Melbourne United have announced the signing of replacement import for Cedric Jackson is Casper Ware a 5'10" PG who played in France last season as a teammate of David Andersen, has previously played in the NBA with Philadelphia and just got waived by Washington during the pre-season.

Also the NBL have upheld their decision to award yesterday's blackout game to the Bullets despite the protest from the Taipans.

A good article in the New York Times about Terrance Ferguson's decision to come to the NBL and sign with the 36ers and how this could be a path for future high school players not yet old enough to qualify for the NBA draft.

Terrance Ferguson, a recent graduate of a charter school in Dallas, begins many days by taking in the view of Gulf St. Vincent from his three-story townhouse in Adelaide, Australia. He sometimes sees dolphins swimming in the waters below, which he considers “pretty cool.” He also likes to check in with peers back home who are preparing for classes as college freshmen.

“A lot of them are like, ‘Man, I should have done what you did,’” Ferguson said.
