Was that in China? If so, it might have something to do with their refusal to include an NBA release clause in their contracts. A lot of players ran into that problem during the lockout.

Yeah that was from a team in China but I thought they only refused the NBA out-clauses last season because of the lockout and just assumed that it was because the NBL is actually a better standard league?

Pretty much $150K-$200K I would think at the absolute max.

Being a better standard reason would be the reason then. He's still young and wants to get back into the NBA, if he fails at that he can always take a big pay day elsewhere.

Thats right plus the big Euro/Chinese dollars will always be there next season if after this season he looks to have fallen out of the NBA loop. I think he's made over $10 million in the NBA so far so unless he's got Antoine Walker type spending habits should be all good.

With China they're able to attract better quality imports (some NBA guys last season were on $2-$3 million) but the locals are for the most part crap so it's generally considered an overall inferior league to the NBL due to our locals being of a lot higher standard.

I remember last season JR Smith had a 50 point + 20 rebound game over there, Patty Mills averaged 26ppg over there last season compared to 18ppg in the NBL before he left and Stephon Marbury who's been out of the NBA for four years now averaged 45ppg in the chinese league Grand Final series last season.
