“Harrell will be on a short-term deal, sources said, but there's potential for him to remain with the team even when Martin is healthy. The 36ers would need to deactivate a local player in order to accommodate that,” Uluc reported.

Harrell has spent time at five different NBA teams across 549 games, averaging 18.6 points a game with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2019-20 season, and most recently lining up for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2022-23 campaign.

Only issue is he is coming off an ACL from August 2023

Day 5 at the Blitz and the 36ers beat New Zealand 98-91. For the Sixers Kendric Davis scored 23 points, Isaac Humphries had 20 points and Dejan Vasiljevic had 15 points. For the Breakers Parker Jackson-Cartwright scored 21 points, Matt Mooney had 20 points and Mojave King scored 18 points.

In the second game SE Melbourne beat Sydney 113-101. Top scorers for the Phoenix were Joe Wieskamp with 24 points, Nathan Sobey with 20 points and Matt Hurt scored 18 points. For the Kings Alex Toohey scored 26 points, Cameron Oliver had 19 points and Shaun Bruce added 11 points.

Also the Cairns Taipans have signed former 36er Tad Dufelmeier as a nominated replacement player for the injuries to Taran Armstrong and Kyle Adnam at point guard. Dufelmeier just played for the Dandenong Rangers in the NBL1 South.

It's official the 36ers have signed import Montrezl Harrell as a short-term injury replacement for Jarell Martin. The 6'7" forward played 8 years in the NBA with six different teams most recently with Philadelphia in the 2022-23 season.

Day 6 at the Blitz in the first game Melbourne beat Illawarra 106-100. Top scorers for United were Jack White with 24 points and Ian Clark and Matthew Dellavedova both scored 14 points and for the Hawks Darius Days, Tyler Harvey and Lachlan Olbrich all scored 22 points each.

In the second game Perth beat Cairns 89-76. Top scorers for the Wildcats were Tai Webster with 16 points and Izan Almansa and Elijah Pepper both scored 15 points and for the Taipans Rob Edwards had 16 points, Pedro Bradshaw scored 15 points and Jonah Antonio added 11 points.

Still would be plenty good enough for the NBL you’d think. I don’t mind it as it keeps everyone on their toes up until Martin returns. Strong roster we are putting together, however 3 years back we said the same thing. This time however we look to have a coach who has somewhat of a clue…
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Since I wrote this I see he has been doing preseason tryouts with Atlanta and Memphis (if I remember correctly)

Day 7 at the Blitz and in the first game the 36ers had a big loss to SE Melbourne 101-49. Top scorers for the Phoenix were Ben Ayre with 15 points and Angus Glover with 14 points and for the Sixers Nick Marshall scored 14 points and Jacob Rigoni had 12 points. The 36ers were missing Davis, Vasiljevic, Humphries, Cadee and Montrezl Harrell hasn't arrived yet.

In the second game Sydney beat New Zealand 90-79. Top scorers for the Kings were Alex Toohey with 24 points, Cameron Oliver had 21 points and Shaun Bruce added 14 points. For the Breakers Matt Mooney scored 25 points and Freddy Gillespie and Mojave King each scored 13 points.

Also tonight Tasmania beat Quimsa from Argentina 81-59 at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. Top scores for the JackJumpers were Jordon Crawford with 15 points and Milton Doyle and Will Magnay each scored 12 points and for the Fusion Juan Brussino and Patricio Tabarez both scored 11 points.

Good move to purely focus on the bench and development players. Only way they can learn is to play and get feedback

Final day of the Blitz today Brisbane beat Cairns 85-82. Top scorers for the Bullets were Keandre Cook with 20 points, Tyrell Harrison had 16 points and Casey Prather had 14 points. For the Taipans Jonah Antonio and Dillon Stith each scored 16 points and Akoldah Gak added 12 points.

The Brisbane Bullets were crowned the winners of the Loggins-Bruton Cup and Bullets centre Tyrell Harrison was awarded the Ray Borner Trophy as MVP of the Blitz.

Also today Tasmania lost to the G-League United team 76-74 at the Intercontinental Cup. Top scorers for the United team were Charlie Brown with 23 points and Brodric Thomas had 12 points and for the JackJumpers Jordon Crawford scored 24 points and Milton Doyle had 23 points.

Tonight Tasmania beat Al Riyadi Beirut from Lebanon 80-75 in the 3rd place game at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Singapore. Top scorers for the JackJumpers were Will Magnay with 19 points and Majok Deng with 13 points and for the Yellow Castle top scorers were Hayk Gyockchyan with 19 points and Elmedin Kikanovic with 16 points. The JackJumpers became the first team from Oceania to win a medal at the FIBA Intercontinetal Cup.
