We've got Randle, Johnson, Creek, Teys, Sobey and Hodgson under contract. So 4 spots (5 if you include the new 11th man rule) to go and two of those can be imports. The talk was Walker wouldn't be brought back but since Petrie's shock departure supposedly we're keen to re-sign Walker now.

Ere, Gibson & Petrie are all definite outs.

Petrie has signed with Brisbane and Joey said Ebi Ere definitely won't be back next season.

A very good rumour this morning from Townsville about Clint Steindl being linked with the 36ers. His 3pt shooting would be exactly what we need.

Fellow former Crocodile Nick Kay has also been heavily linked with the Hawks, while Clint Steindl looks likely to join the Adelaide 36ers and Mitch Young looks appears set to join the Brisbane Bullets.

Very good news for us suffering 36ers fans with the club today announcing the signing of young gun Anthony Drmic to a 2 year deal. He's just finished his college career playing at Boise State University and is the younger brother of former NBL veteran Frank Drmic.

He comes with big wraps too so sounds like a very good signing.

Should be a very good get, we haven't had a productive three point shooter in a while.

I can't understand why we wouldn't want to re-sign Walker, his versatility is vital. Our other import(s) must be bigs, we really need some muscle (and class) injected into the side.

I think we are interested in re-signing Walker especially after Petrie left but I suspect he's holding out for a better offer.

The game in Nanning last night was a low-scoring scrappy affair certainly not one for the time capsule but the Chinese were impressive in the second half. Former Townsville Crocs import Mickell Gladness has also joined the NBL team over in China.

Game 1

China 57 (Zou Yu Chen 13, Li Mu Hao 10) def NBL All-Australians 49 (Blanchfield 13)

China lead the series 1-0

Game 2 from Guangzhou is 9pm Sunday night live on the NBL stream and Fox.

A much better performance from the NBL team last night in Guangzhou to even the series. Scorers haven't been made available yet but Jesse Wagstaff was probably our most impressive player and I would be surprised if he didn't top score.

Game 2

NBL All-Australians 72 def China 64

Series tied 1-1

Game 3 from Beijing will be live on the NBL stream and Fox at 9pm on Tuesday night.

Also today the Brisbane Bullets have announced the signing of former Taipans import SF Torrey Craig to a 2 year deal.

Big news overnight with Melbourne United announcing they've signed three-time championship winning import PG Cedric Jackson formerly of the NZ Breakers.

http://www.nbl.com.au/featured-news/ced ... ne-united/

Also overnight the NBL team in Beijing had a comfortable win against China in another impressive display. Other than the bad first game up the group really came together over these past two games and they were good viewing. Bit of a shame there isn't anymore games to come but they've done well beating China in China.

Game 3

NBL All-Australians 76 (Kickert 18, Cadee 15, Blanchfield 10) def China 65 (Ding Yan Yu Hang 18, Zhai Xiao Chuan 13, Zou Yu Chen 10)

NBL All-Australians win the series 2-1

In a bit of a coup the Cairns Taipans have announced the signing of Aussie young gun Mitch McCarron to a 2 year deal. The 6'3" guard was the 2015 NCAA Div II National Player of the Year at Metro State University in Denver and played last season in Spain.

http://www.taipans.com/featured-news/ca ... -mccarron/

Also NBL Executive Director Larry Kestelman has returned from China buoyed by the experience of the successful touring NBL All-Australian team and the fact the TV ratings for the three games in China was more than 30 million, more people than the entire population of Australia watched that three game series and the final game at the Beijing National Stadium was played in front of a crowd of 18,000.

A detailed interview with Kestelman about the ground work being laid and the mutually beneficial relationship the NBL and China's CBA will have in future:

36ers sign 208cm forward and Sudanese College star Majok Deng on a 3 year deal.

Reading an article about him on FB, seems to be doing well in the college system with University of Louisiana, leading the 2015/16 Sub Belt Conference in scoring (19ppg), blocks (1.9pg) and third in offensive rebounds (5.3pg).

He has an interesting story too coming to Adelaide as a refugee.

“I started playing basketball in Adelaide, so it’s great to have the opportunity to come home and continue my journey,” said Deng.

“My mum has never seen me play, so to have her at my first professional NBL game will be very special for me.”

After coming to Australia in 2000 as a refugee, Deng was recruited to play college basketball after impressing in the Australian U20 Grand Final, and playing locally with the Forestville Eagles.

I wonder if this means Lucas Walker's time as a 36er is up?

An interesting article about the NBL's plans to set up a team from China in the next two years to play some home games on the Gold Coast when in Australia.

THE National Basketball League has drawn up plans for a team in China — which would be based part-time on the Gold Coast — to be up and running within two years.

The NBL is seeking approval from the Chinese Basketball Association and world governing body FIBA for a new entity to join its competition.

The new club — comprising predominantly Chinese free agents playing with the permission of the CBA, and some imports — would play out of major Chinese cities.

It would also have a strong connection with the Gold Coast, where it would be based when in Australia and play at least some games.

How many times do we need a time on the Gold Coast to fail before we give up. Queensland isnt Los Angeles and doesnt need so many teams, how's townsville going?
