US PGA Championship 2023

I've been a bit slack in posting about the majors of late. So here's a little something about the next major on the roster.

Once again we see a sprinkling of Liv players back in the fold for a major. The PGA Championship - the 105th edition returns to Oak Hill for the first time in 10 years.

A little on the course:

The Architecture of Oak Hill East, a preview of the fourth PGA Championship hosted at the historic venue, was released earlier this week and goes in depth on the restoration of the venue by golf architect Andrew Green back to its original Donald Ross design.

“I felt like the presentation of the golf course needed to be more authentic and better connected to some of the original imagery we had from Ross’ time,” Green said.

Green was tasked by Oak Hill to restore the venue of the 1980, 2003 and 2013 PGA Championships in 2020. He set out to recapture Ross’ image and create more variety in the way the course could be set up for Major Championships.

“I’m really excited about the way it presents itself in as authentic fashion as possible,” Green said in the piece. “That it feels of a certain vintage, a certain period. That it feels like the way it was intended to be. I’m really excited to see how it holds up, what the challenges are and how the players react.”

Similar thought process for me in terms of spreading a few bets.

Ram and Smith I like to win both good value

Speaking of value I couldn’t believe the odds for Phil and Gooch backed them both as well.

I almost squeezed Gooch in. PGA usually throws up a roughie, there are some seriously good golfers with triple figure odds

Rahm is done +6, Smith not looking much better +1

Bryson playing really solid golf, but Scheff looking the goods warrants the favourite tag that's for sure. Glad Ryan Fox is up and about i've liked him as a golfer pretty cool story behind him as well.

Phil just teeing off.

How good is golf.

Course seems to suit the long hitters, Bryson being one.

Koepka misses a short birdie putt that would have had him in a 3 way tie for the lead.

Connors and Hovland share the lead at -6.
