Yeah, Par is probably not the ideal game for a first up from a spell hit. I actually like playing par. I treat it as match play against the course. Often my better rounds come in Par comps.

Hope the weather holds out Carey.

Not watched this video but have heard he has that setup

Which makes sense when a lot of coaches tell you that you should have the same swing for each club etc

Your 7 iron should be the same as your driver and it never is,, for anybody

Got to golf hung over as hell, then my golf cart had no power and didn't even get it off the trailer, I didn't have my buggy with me (why would I) so had to borrow one from the store. Great start to the day

After a few choice words on to the first tee I go. Put a 5 iron within a metre of the pin things are looking up, Birdie 2 for a plus. On to the next tee nailed my drive straight down the middle, 7 iron on the green 2 putts walk off with a par for another plus. At which stage I said to my playing group I should have 6 weeks off more often (silly mistake). Banged back to earth with 5 minus's in a row

Long story short ended up 5 down. Playing in the Tuesday comp this week hopefully a better result.

Went and played North Haven yesterday with Dissident

Cracking weather, and the wind even died off for the second loop around. Not that it helped.

Shot 93, which was a little disappointing given i was out in 45. Birdied the 11th (2nd) and was 12 over after 12, which would have be going sub 90, which happens almost never, but then fell in a hole and played 13-15 for 9 over. I guess thats what happens when you only play once a month.

Course condition was pretty variable. Some parts looked quite decent but some parts were VERY patchy. The course was a bit worse than I remember it. I assume they are still in the process of improving it.

Still, for $24 a round, virtually nobody on the course, sunny weather and low winds, its pretty hard to beat.

Went to the sailmaster drive through for a roady on the way home, and found an interesting 4 pack of beer i hadn't seen before. Asked how much it was.... $30!!! for 4!!

Needless to say I just grabbed a single of something else (Big Shed Californicator, which was still excellent) and that was it.

Big Shed beers, all excellent.

North Haven, exactly as noted. Not expensive, so you get what you pay for but THE bonus is the lack of others on the course. I'd understand if it was packed for the price but it is invariably near empty and I don't mind the rough rough if nobody is around.

for a casual golfer like myself, I think the $24 there is much better value than $50 odd at Gawler or something (assuming I dont get an entertainment book voucher, which i pretty much always do if i go play at the better courses)

You can also scoot around 9 in under an hour with nobody in front of you. Much less of a commitment than the 3 1/2 hours+ at a full 18 with a crowd.

Perfect for after work or, as I've done before, on a weekend before Mrs Boon has even risen.

My thoughts exactly about Mawson Lakes, Which I must say is in as good of condition as I've ever seen.

Played in the morning comp this morning front 9 went well, then back 9 well, The less said the better.

89 off the stick, Nett 75. My 20th round was flagged 12, So hoping to blow out a little bit.

I always forget about ML when thinking about places to just have a hit.

What are green fees like?

Are there separate tee blocks if you want to go round twice?

9 holes $12 18 holes $20.

And yes all separate tee blocks. In cracking condition at the moment. Greens are awesome.

Played Murray Bridge yesterday.

It's a reciprocal club for me, and an easy 30 minute drive down the freeway. This means just $10 green fee. $6 comp fee. Par comp.

Blistered a drive off the first leaving me 7 iron in. 2 putt par - happy with that start. Missed out on 2nd, then halved 3 & 4. Dropped the next 4 holes -

Got it going again on the back nine, stringing together 4 wins, all with pars. Then a ******* 3 putt on the par 3 17th, and a woeful final hole, where I was out before I got to the green left me 2 down. Still good enough to win a ball.

While Murray Bridge is probably out of the way for most, its a decent track. Mid week green fees are $24, think its more like $34 weekends etc.

The greens are excellent, and they have some very good golf holes. My only criticism is the course is a par 68.... with 6 par 3's. Some longish par 4's, and both par 5's are good risk/reward type holes.

If you are looking for a change of scenery, it's worth a look. Never had a problem getting on the course, I reckon mid weeks would be very quiet.

Some of the pennant guys were teeing off as we finished this morning....so these guys are at a 3 handicap and lower......some of these guys off the tee were horrible.

For those that know the Vines, quite a few went left off the tee into the trees.
Spotted one chap who was playing the par 5 13th and his ball ended up in the rough between the 1st /9th fairways....and only 50m ahead......

I certainly didn't feel outta place after watching them
