What was the dual pins they are running?

Each hole had 2 pins, one with a black and white chequered flag, the other with red and white...

You play to the black and white on the front 9 then the red and white on the 'back 9'...

The greens are big enough for the dual pin system and with some holes, one would be say on the top tier of a green, the other down the bottom.

Just made it more enjoyable playing at a different pin location on the 'back 9'.

They have also insterted a black and white pole in the middle of the fairways as a 135m marker.

Yeah, no worries, the pro told us they only just introduced it a couple of weeks ago but it has been well received.

It was a good idea and worked well, except for my mate who forgot about it playing the 1st again as the 10th. He thought he got a nice chip to within 4 ft for a birdie putt.

Piy the red flag he had to play at was another 30ft away down the back of the green and a three putt bogey followed ;)

I've just started playing again after giving the game away 20 years ago. About to join Port Augusta which is an awesome course. True greens and spongy fairways make for good golf. My ambition is to break 100 which I know is a modest target.

Agreed. Great little course to have a hit around with the kids and Mrs, the only time Mrs.Boon is allowed on a golf course with me.

Played Thaxted a couple of weeks ago and have finally got enough courage to post about it....

Course- In very good nick. Greens firm and fast as expected, but good grip if you hit a good shot.

Conditions- was blowing its guts out. Not ideal when taking on the Thax.

Golf- My first hole summed it up. Drove a majestic drive up the right into the trees. Hooked a 5 iron out of trouble onto the fairway. Spanked a seven iron onto the green in regulation. 4 putted for double bogey. Yes 4 putts... didnt improve from there, consistently driving into the trees and chipping out. Lost 3 or 4 balls (which doesnt bother me, the lost shots bother me!) and continually mis-hit the ball. Birdied the 8th, which I hoped would start something good on the back nine, but alas the very next drive blazed straight into the trees!! Breaking point came on the 14th, as I managed to duff 3 consecutive wedges from about 110. 3 hits took me a total of 40 metres. I havent done it for years, but the wedge found its way nearer the green than my ball....
Somehow I then birdied the 16th with the best golf you will ever see. Proceeded to then butcher the 17th and 18th to come home in 97. Relieved I didnt crack the ton.

I want to come a play a round when you have your game going if 97 is a bad round for you mate. I am headed out to the course of hard greens Friday. Will report back after the weekend.

Got my handicap yesterday at Riverside after joining back up last week.
Have come in at 16, probs a few shots lower then what I thought but gives me something to work with.
Realisticly I think I will probs go out to 18-19 in next few weeks.

Generally handicap will fluctuate greatly until you get the full sample of scores (best 8 of your past 20). For me I'm hovering around the 20/21 mark without much practice at all

Just don't hit me ;)

Have you seen how much space we have between the fairways

I bought R11 stuff just to help cure my wayward shots but I have only just succeeded in adding distance and a few more less per round

haha good call
we were talking about it last night, when i had a hit with a few mates. Basiclly every hole where drivers are used at least one of us has to yell 4 cause of a wayward drive.

Think I will look into a new driver in the coming months. R11 is at the top of my list at the moment

They had them on sale at drummond (petes golf) just before christmas for around $385, I will so close to buying one, but funds before christmas are streched with gifts, buying beers for 14 days straight etc, so opted not to. Sort of wished I did buy it now.
My wilson staff still hits it ok though.
