16 pts after 7.started 10th
Hit a nice 8i on 13 that will give the field something to chase for NTP

Wheels fell off 17/18

Back onto 1st now playing a 230m par 4.
Par/par to start and then fell apart.
Back 9 was horribly slow.

23pts

Lady bay
Stroke.
Started 10th.
Drive found fairway.
2nd shot a 7w that had some draw that was also helped by the breeze.
Cleared back left corner of green. Saw it land. Gone.
Day over.
Lost 9 found 3 and lost 2 of those

Twilight tonight, front 9 - a par, 6 bogeys, a double and a quadruple on the last  for 17 points and 47 off the stick.

Im out to 22 and playing pretty poorly, most of the bogeys were scrambles, on hit 2 fairways, irons very poor.....again

33 pts combining last 2 twilight rounds. That's not horrible scoring.

Twilight

Back 9

Driver still just blocking it out to the right.
The old 5w got a run and did good job when required.
Putting was typically rubbish on all bar one hole.
Somehow finished 18pts.

The selection committee have had a look at some stats on my shotscope.
It's been determined after much discussion with the clubs, that some need to think about their behaviour.

So we'll go into tomorrow with
3 wood
5 wood
7wood
6i
8i
Pw
58
60 (bunker predominantly)

The 6i was going to be left out, as was the 5w. But these may be crucial for a low punchy penetrating ball flight. But in essence are the same club.

The newly recruited 3w will have its day in the sun... literally.... to prove it's worth.

The others that have missed, some are unfortunate. The 9i performs its role. The 7i has turned from a fader back to a draw shape that I like.
The 56 is too close to 58.
The Driver.... well, hit it nice, once last night. But it's been a blockfest with it in recent times...back to drawing board... and have tinkered with it unsuccessfully. So it can have a rest.

Yes, but I have a few that bunch together and only difference is ball flight.

Saturday
Stroke - Flaggy.
With the above bag. Just hacked a 92.... very ordinary

Blackwood yesterday also Stroke
Started off very ordinary. 3wood off the toe that popped and lucky to stay in....
Scrambled ok through 9 for 45
Greens so slow and not good enough to adapt.
Back 9 was worse, the swing deserted me.
3w let me down, 5w also...
Took a 9 on par 5 15th. Completely toe blocked the 3w at right angles  hit a tree and finished under a bush on left...
93

Played Sunday night, front 9, strong start and was 30m short of the green on the 5th for 2, walked off with an 8  then doubled the next 2 holes, still got to 18 points, found my irons again and struck them very well - I loosened up my left leg on the take away and contact was so much better.

CLUB MANDALAY - MON Nov 4th

Booked in 4 players with carts as soon as booking were opened for Monday 4th. $37.50 per player, great deal.

9.08am tee time a little challenging for a few in the group, with one bloke only getting in at 3.00am from Crown!

Perfect weather, light wind only, though it did pick up as the day went on. But it could have been a whole lot worse. Group consisted of Ryan (11) plays regularly, and hits a pretty good ball. Timmy - 4/5 time a year golfer, Big Johnny - 8/10 time a year golfer (loves it), and your hack scribe.

Gentle opening par 4, followed by a not overly difficult par 5. I start double Bogey. Bogey. The carts all have gps, and give distances to front of green, pin & back of green. Very deceiving, and took me a little while to trust the distances. The greens are massive so a pin at the back, was 2/3 clubs more than you think visually.

3rd is a nice par 3. I stone cold top it, and fail to make the ladies tee..... much to the mirth of my playing partners.

Course was presented in very good order, given the amount of "public" traffic it takes. Just bunkers not raked, which is standard fare sadly. Greens perhaps on the slow side, but for our group very playable. Big Johnny, who barely missed a fairway all day, rolled in 3 or 4 massive long putts, so he was keen on them. Ryan just kept racking up the pars, me the doubles (and worse ).

A few beers consumed on course, with the relevant pics posted to social media, and sent by text to a mate who had to work...... **** off, was his reply!

We didn't get the drink post round as often mentioned on SEN, but we were none to worried about that. A quick beer at the 19th, and we then adjourned to our local watering hole, to discuss the cup form.

Mandalay is about a 45 min drive North of the Melbourne CBD, just off the Hume Highway. At the group price point, its damn good value.
