Tried my mates Callaway Rogue ($900 driver!) last night on the 18th, my god what a beast, time for a new driver :D

Down through the 3rd tee box?

Yep, hit the top of the tree past the Dam, I've never hit that tree on the full

Decent hit.
Lost many a ball under that tree.
Think they cleared it up a bit now to make it easier to find stray balls?

They are only $700 now as they have been superseded by the Paradym, which from all the reviews I have seen is a lot better. However I wont be lashing out over $1k for a club...

Can get a set for $1k

I've seen a review comparison of Paradym vs an 18yr old driver on youtube - mark crossfield

Maybe it isn't the clubs holding me back after all, it's just a complete lack of ability

Flaggy this morning

still had those memories of the last round front of mind. the visions of the golf game being demolished like the club house at the course....
1st - hit a relatively good drive, it didnt go straight right - a massive relief for all the home owners.
was a fairly steady round - missed 2 absolute sitters of putts and im still not sure how they spat out of the hole....both were for par
ended up on 31pts with a scrub.
Driver over corrected itself, it went from straight right last round to having a more violent draw even hook shape on it...

There was a crucial selection meeting on friday night. All players from all sets in the shed and those currently in the bag were up for consideration for promotion or demotion.
my 5w which has served me well, i gave it a week off and put in a hybrid. I can see myself using the hybrid runner style shots at flaggy once i get a better feel for the course. I did a few today, and one wasnt overly great, but the others were sound enough to give me hope that it is an option.
swapped out 7,9 in one set and we gave an opportunity to a 7,9 and a 56wedge
the putter also got moved on.

the 7i, wasnt the greatest behaved, i tended to push it a fraction.
hybrid from the fairway was actually quite pleasing
Driver - behaved itself with mostly handy draw shaped shots that didnt spin into hooks
putting - 38 for the day, which includes a few from the fringes etc. actually felt i putted well, and i cant putt - hence 38 is a good number for me
33 points

the mixed bag wasnt too bad, the 7i needs some work, but there is hope there somehwere with it....

monthly medal

Off the 1st and was a horror pull, the arms moved but the body had no interest. ended up on the path from 8th - 9th tee. Played it off the path and just caught some branches, connection was delightful. then a couple shots later and ended up in the bunker and the first hole was representative of what was to follow. 7 to start
the rest of the round, i visited quite a few bunkers. some of which I hadnt found before and some which really werent in play until I hit the ball with a pull...... ffs
on the 7th walking backwards to my ball raking up the footprints, i then stepped on my ball   low and behold you cant rake the bunker before you hit, in case you are testing the sand. ive always done it to keep the game moving quicker   so 1 shot penalty there.
49 on the front 9
back 9 started shakily, and finished in a horror  an 8 on the 18th. tried to smash the ball too hard and blocked it out onto the 10th fairway and then played a bit of army golf all the way home

50 to come home in for 99 overall. just trying to get value for money....

27 holes on the weekend, played The Dunes on Saturday, traditional links golf 4 holes with the wind, one across and then other 4 straight into the teeth of it. Front 9 42 and thoughts of breaking 90 came into my head...wrong, 50 on the back  great day though, mate of mine birdied the 1st 3 holes of the day

Played front 9 at the Vines tonight, got around in 43 with 20 points, with nothing worse than a bogey, only hit 2 fairways so pretty happy with the rest of the game

Booked in for Mt Osmond Sunday with Future golf. Forecast looks ideal.

Yep, That's the one.

I'll definitely commit to it, just can't commit to organising or running it.

Looks a perfect project for @Booney

I can probably help out depending where we want to hold it.

More importantly, whats your handicap down to at the moment?

So if you volunteer on the Liv tour, does that mean you are ineligible to volunteer on the regular tour?

nice mild morning

started off quite solidly. highlight came early, a handy little 52yard sandwedge for birdie on the 2nd,
the 4th hole i dominated during the week when i played the front 9 twice after work, i pulled it into the edge of the creek. could have taken a drop to salvage a point but, still a long way from home, pick up and move along.
added in a 7 and 9i from a set thats 24yrs olf... around the greens they were useless, but elsewhere seemed to hold their own.
hit a lovely 7i on the par 3 12th which was all over the flag.... not in the hole in one comp and it thankfully just landed a couple yards past.
Greens were a little slower than normal which took some adjusting.
ended up on 33pts

onto Mt Osmond tomorrow afternoon

MT OSMOND - sunday arvo

weather was perfect.
shotgun start and the march to the 3rd tee... ffs.
course still in solid condition as it generally always is from my experience.
practice green was super quick. some of the greens out on the course werent as fast and that caught me out.
round was very slow, and ill blame that for my poor scoring. ended up on 29 points.
the short game was horrid, just had no feel at all.
out to 17.2 - starting to reflect where everything is at for the moment.
