Better than I thought it would be, greens slowish but had been cored recently, some nice looking holes but bit boring in patches with only 2 par 5's and most of the par 4's being pretty short

48 hours later I hit a 45 and 21 points, after starting with 2 double bogeys I went 2 over for the next 5 holes

Morning all, You may of heard a large loud thud this morning, that was me crashing back in earth in ugly fashion! As Dutchy stated above, it's been a huge week which i now have a huge headache from......

The boys trip was, well a boys trip! Absolutely loved it had a blast, but that's all i'll talk about that ;)

5AA Golf day at Glenelg was awesome, great day. Thought the weather was going to kill the day, but we literally only got 2 minor showers. Had Graham Cornes as our 5AA Star. I don't know why, but i went in thinking he'd be a grumpy old miserable bastard, well i couldn't be further from the truth! Absolute gentleman, was great to talk to, told some cracking stories and was very giving with his time.

Footy was obviously a strong topic, i asked him the best players his seen, Cornsey stated he couldn't split Robran and Russell, but he then elaborated on Ross Glendinning and how underrated he was, Keith Greig same boat, he spoke about the natural ability of Phil Carman, but also stated he was an absolute lunatic, also gave Martin Leslie a special mention. the stories went on and on. from talking about a whole range of footballers, to the state of the modern game and some cracking yarns along the way.

The after golf entertainment was nothing short of sensational, Timmy G was his usual self, Flipper was brilliant, The Interview with KG was very emotional, the interview with Daniel Talia was very revealing around how he was treated by senior board members at the club which has left a bad taste in a lot of players mouths, he also touched on the camp saga and the Grand Final Loss, he spoke really well. the other interviewee was Les Burdett again, amazing stories and insight.

On to the golf, Cornesy plays off 17, i see him a much better player than that just lacks the length (perhaps that's his been married 3 times  ) but in all seriousness very rarely missed a fairway, chipping was solid and the weight of his putts was spot on. what killed us in the overall scheme of things was our inability to sink any putts of note and our handicap. our group played off 4 & 1/4, we collectively had 3,4,10 and cornesy off 17. we had 6 under 64 off the bat, Nett 59 & 3/4, winners ended with Nett 52, I'm defiantly calling bullshit!

I won a range finder, very happy with that.

Melbourne Cup day at Morphettville yesterday was huge, followed by kick ons at 2Kw. I backed the winner of the cup and had a reasonable day on the punt.

Todays headache very well earnt and a small price to pay for an epic week.

How'd you find the course itself? Its getting a fair bit of traffic ATM with a heap of corporate days plus membership is overflowing. The coring / scarifying from late September has finally recovered so its playing pretty well considering all that and the rain we've had. The redevelopment is pretty frustrating, the 13th fairway was laid 6 months ago and still hasn't taken yet. The greens once they settle are sensational but are pretty slow compared to the rest of the course. Club champs were over the weekend so you would have got the course as good as its going to be.

Very happy with the course mate, greens very slow, but with that being said very challenging. A hell of a lot of undulations right across the course which i really enjoyed to be honest, you could be dead centre of the fairway yet the ball be above/below your feet.

Very picturess thats for sure.

Actually one hole, can't remember which one #-o maybe the 6th???

I look at the green yep, left to right and Cornesy says "now this one is a bit weird, it goes other way" i was dead set, no way will that go right to left, that's a left to right putt every day of the week.

Sure enough it went right to left, i had to check i didn't only have one shoe on! :D

Could be the 4th but yeah almost everything runs off the front and to the bunkers on either side. Hardly a straight putt on the course, even the new greens that look flat aren't. Speed they were pretty quick Saturday, Sundays rain would have slowed them up a fair bit.

Playing there every week I forget how good it is sometimes, glad you had fun. Love the view from the clubhouse over the 18th.

I think Glenelg is the only metro course I haven't played, tried to once on Christmas Day but got kicked out

Port Hughes last weekend with the lads, great course and interesting to see that the resort and clubhouse is going to happen now, maybe the back 9 will come eventually?

The course has benefited from the wet winter, fairways sensational and greens as good as ever (best in SA?) well worth checking out if you are over on the YP, got 38 points so happy with the way I played. Its amazing how much more confident on the tee I am on links courses with little to no trees to worry about!

From there we hit the tavern and the front bar is packed with footy and netball trips, great night on the piss before rolling back to the shack.
