Royal Adelaide today, weather was perfect.. zero lost balls, only 1 scrub and 37 points. Cant complain too much after bit getting near 30 points in the last 6 rounds. Driver behaved until the last hole, finding fairways and going nice and straight.

Course was in superb condition, rough was a lot friendlier than last time I played which was nice..

2 of our group tore the front 9 apart with 22 and 24 points each... 24 turned into 43 at the end of the day and 22 turned into 34 with a terrible back 9...

Went for hit of 9 hole twilight last night, after 4 holes 10 over, then play the last 5 holes even, #$%^ of a game!

Next social game, played at the Pat last Friday, course in really good nick with plenty of water being put into it and even hand watering the greens during the day. Was getting ready for the mandatory 5 & 1/2 hour round but surprisingly got around in an hour less.

Was blowing a gale from the SW, but got off to a ripper - Par, Bogey, Birdie, Bogey (inc drop shot - water), Birdie, Bogey, Par and ended up with a 41 on front 9, then realised I haven't broken 90 for 12 months or so and of course the golfing gods got me with a 52 on back 9

I repeat - #$%^ of a game!

What a difference a week makes in golf.

I actually felt like I knew what to do when I held the club, it wasnt a foreign object designed by aliens....

Put Driver in the bag.
I hit it consistently all day, I did try something different on one hole and paid the price.
On the 9th (our 18th) I hit a cracker, sailed nicely to the 100m marker...

The course suits my style of getting plenty of run, and a few times I hit the approach shots to get that nice run on the green. A few other shots that just worked out how I had hoped.

Rattled the flag on a couple of chips, one was on line, i thought it was in when it was halfway there, somehow hit the stick and ended up behind the hole right on the lip.
On 9th where I hit the nice drive, i had left myself just off the green. Normally thats ablittle 7i/8i runner, had a sprinkler head a few metres on front....so had to pull the wedge out. And ****, in she went, birdie.

Did wipe 2 holes though, but im very content with that effort and the Carlton Draught is sliding down sweetly!

First lesson today thinking I only needed a minor change. We’ll f**k me I was wrong!

Has anyone on here been video analysed by a coach? Then shown your issues? It sticks out like dogs balls when it’s explained to you and shown corrective actions. As stated I’m off 11 and didn’t think I was far away but I definitely am, especially now as he has basically changed my whole swing!

My grip and back swing were the only things that survived. The hour lesson then consisted of just an 8 iron attempting some swing memory. I foresee some blown out scores coming up but I certainly believe it’s for the greater good in the long run in my attempt to be a consistent single figure golfer.

I certainly seen merit in what I was learning. Went from a big fade/Slice (MT and Boon can confirm, hopefully nicely ) to hitting with a very slight draw on the balls I hit nicely and I’ve never drawn a ball in my life.

I’ve been advised to leave the Driver in the bag until I get this swing right, I’m 100% going to.

I’ll keep you posted.

Yeah thats the things with Lessons and major changes, will take time to get used too, and very easy to go back to old habits, cos it feels comfortable.
As for scores, bit of short term pain for long term gain!!

Aston Hills for the nice soft lush fairways.

Started off on 10th.
Wasnt a bad start.
2 bogeys and 2 pars.
Then the par 3 with the water. Breeze was up, flag in left side of the green. Went the hybrid to try and draw it in.
Shank of inside and one bounce, splash.
So just wiped the hole/day. Played a few of the other holes, but didnt bother putting out.

Course is looking in good nick, fairways as mentioned above are the best ive seen in recent times anywhere.

The $1100 membership is very inviting!

Score was surprising, 32 points. 1 scrub.

As stated I left the driver in the bag, the first few holes were scratchy but as we progressed the swing got better and better. my iron play was so much straighter and the straighter they were obviously the more distance I was getting. Talking about the distances I'm certainty going to have to change my whole mindset with distances and probably drop a full club potentially even 2 such is the difference

I have been to the driving range 5 times since my lession my ball retriever holds 70-80 balls twice i have emptied twice the other visits just the once whilst there, i am determined to get this swing memory sorted.

Once i get the swing memory sorted on my Iron play i will then return for a lesson with my driver.

All in all very happy with progress

Just had the one lesson thus far. Once I'm happy with my swing memory I will return and tackle the driver.


Pennants start this Sunday tho I'm debating wether to play or not.....

We have Nth Adeladie on the South Course week 1.
