Great course in great nick.
Only down side was being unable to putt on the greens.
I'm not a bad putt, but these were faster than your first root and nearly impossible to read. Lol

Yeah you can safely add an extra shot a hole onto your score when you play there. Last I played I had a 99 there, but hit an 83 at Balaklava the week before and an 84 the week after playing there.

Did you find putting difficult?
Right in front of me. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

Certainly did. Its not unusual to have a 3 put their. You are doing well if you only 2 put at Gawler.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Wirrina yesterday in good nick considering the recent weather. A little boggy in places, but to be expected. At least the greens had a decent coat of grass!

Give it a week of sunshine and it will be outstanding..

Hit a +1 in a par round, driving well and hit some good irons. Putting OK except for two 'soft' birdie attempts and a couple of inexcusable misses inside a metre

Next game North adelaide 12 Sep...

Played the Lady on Saturday, great fun and a challenge, got nailed by her though, the wind was up and despite hitting my driver the best I have for 3 years I couldnt hit a decent iron to save myself, first par on the 18th which should have been a birdie missing a 6 footer...shot an  105 (compared to my best of 81 there a couple of years back)

Similar to Wirrina the course (and all others I suspect) is looking forward to some warmth to green up again.

First hit for a few months yesty at TTG. Course in great nick considering the rain we have had. Only the 16th showed signs of water damage but the fairway slopes into the middle from both directions so very understandable. Shot 33 points with 4 scrubs and 1 point from the last 3 holes. Happy to get the first hit out the way! bring on summer

For those with the Club Advantage Card just a heads up that Riverside has begun some major renovations in the past month but if it looks as good as it does on paper then it will be well worth the short term pain during this summer.

The 5th now plays about 80m shorter with a temp green whilst the new green layout takes hold stretching closer to Frederick Rd.
18th hole is now closed completely to allow a total hole rebuild with new bunkering and green plus some reshaping of the fairway and tee.
17th is to be closed shortly to allow construction of a new green and bunkers. Currently have a temporary green settling in before closure.

to compensate for the 18th closure we now get to play the 9th twice (sort of) off the tee to the permanent temporary green just beyond the pond as a par 4  then play a 100m par 3 to the existing 9th green. For us high handicappers it is money for jam in stableford/par competitions as the indexes for the holes remain as is on the old card :) I for one cashed in big time picking up 7 points in those 2 holes alone pity about the rest of my round though

How is everyone's summer of Golf going? I heard yesterday that European Tour player Wade Ormsby is in town and was spotted on the range of one of the big clubs practising non stop.

On my local Club front a good couple of months heading into summer for the Heater. Qualified 5th in the club championships at the beginning of October but bombed out in the 1/4 finals to a lower handicapped player in off the stick match play :(

got some good form going at the moment getting the Handicap down to a career best 23. Now aiming to get into the next grade which starts at 19.

Riverside course renovations are about to bear some fruit for the club advantage Card people. The new 5th is only a week away from opening for play. Both the 17th and 18th only a couple of months away also :D

Played twice in the last fortnight which is rare for me, at the Vines which is in reasonable nick, greens very fast, dont like the layout much but still enjoyable. Only hit one fairway and that was after hitting a tree

Then played Lady Bay last weekend, I played there in August and it was fairly tame but now the rough has grown from ankle high to waist height! I lost 4 balls but found 8. Course is also in great nick but while I love a challenge the rough is bordering on comical for social golfers. If you go in you are very unlikely to find it unless you step on it. Highlight for the round for me was putting my drive on the 11th in the greenside bunker, although it was downwind and down hill.

I purchased a hybrid for the first time, know I known why everyone has got them, they go so sweet even when you dont hit them in the middle, loved hitting it and cant wait to get out there again.

Youch Rocky! Where was the damage done? my guess the 14th- first across the road?

Played at Victor harbor Sunday- course in great nick, my driving not so. My slight draw was a major hook on at least 6 tee shots, ended up with 33 points, 87 off the stick. Lazy 8 points off the pace though...

Got last game back at North Adelaide in a couple of weeks, then will be keen for some course experimentation, so will be checking this thread for suggestions..

Yep, took an 8 on 14, hit in to trees on left and tried to hook around to front of green only to block it out of bounds, then made tripple on 15 and double on 16 birdie 17 par last to finish 78 was not happy

Played twilight last night at Glenelg
First time on the course and we played the back 9. What a great course, challengeing with everything in pristine condition. greens were a bit quicker then Im used to and harder to read.
I played absolutely horrible but still enjoyed it, hopefully will get back there soon to play again.
Dunno what other clubs do in regards to twilight comps but at glenelg it was $30 (for non members anyway)
that got you the round and also dinner, which was anything off the menu worth $15 or you payed the extra if more then $15.
They were also quite generous aswell, anyone who got over 15pts for the night got a ball and it went up to 2 balls for the higher scorers. Then the top 4 got a dinner voucher for 20 for 4th, 30 for 3rd 40 for 2nd and 50 for 1st.
Plus they do a draw with everyones card for a $50 dinner voucher, all in all was a really good night!
get on board the thunder train!!!
