Has anyone played Victor Harbour or Goolwa before? I am going down for a weekend soon and was going to play one of them.

If you are talking South Lakes, it is okay but Victor or McCracken are better.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

well today in the sat comp another bloody par  +3 for me off 27 back down to 26.3 :(

off the tee and most iron play I look like a single figure handicapper just within 80m of the green I'm terrible
oh well when I had the high handicap I used to be happy with carding 5s recently I'm getting dirty with myself missing greens/putts that I should make and ending up with a 5

Riverside has the greens in sensational nick, good pace throughout the 18 probably due to the annual pro-am on Monday.

for the Money we members pay is extremely good value for what is presented to us to use.

We had bloody stroke again today at the Vines. Was reasonably happy with the way i hit him. One bad hole turned what could have been around nett 70 into a nett 74. Certainly a hell of a lot better than what I've played lately, included the pro-am on Thursday. The course has come up an absolute treat lately, if you get the chance anyone, venture in and have a hit, especially those with the Club Advantage card.

Last game we had a 2 ball ambrose down at the pat. At one stage we were 4 over  but hit 7 under in the last 11 holes to finish 3 under.

Currently sitting on 12.8 I think, next game is a par round in 3 weeks at Links Lady Bay.

Hackham hawk- in order:
Victor Harbor- beautiful scenery, and testing course.
McCracken- Nice course, huge greens. Getting costly these days, and if you are hitting the ball well its an easy track.
South Lakes- the redheaded stepchild of these 3, but it is still a good course. Small greens make it tougher, but if you head out there most Sundays come mid morning you have it to yourself.

Couldnt hit the ball off the tee straight all day (which butchers you there), finished with a 90.

Fairways OK, couple of GUR spots. Greens terrible- they should tell you when greens are recently cored, and I reckon a discount too. (I know this has to be done but its a rude shock when you get to the 1st green and it's holey).

Off to the range I reckon. Next game Wirrina in a fortnight.

MT if you want a program from our social club let me know, we play approx every 3 weeks, run 3 comps during the season plus day comps with nearest pins and longest drive prizes at all games. Membership is $40 which gets you affiliated with SA Golf and an Australia wide recognised handicap through the Golf-Link system... beauty is you only play when you want (eg green fees at the games you play)

sounds like a top idea MG. i would love to get a membership but money and time and the fact that im a pretty average hacker are standing in my way!! who sets these social clubs up? i would like to consistantly play every few weeks!

Mate our club started as a group of Cove cricketers that set up a golf club. My stepdad played and dragged me out when I was about 17. Still play 17 years on and I am the Secretary/ Treasurer. Many social clubs around, reakon Reynella still have a social club going, not sure if they run it out of the Footy Club or the Crown.

If you want an idea of our program PM me and I'll email it to ya.

Kooyonga was in great condition, perhaps the best I have seen it in. Our foursome was made up of 4 maximum handicappers ( I dont play often enough to get one, yet think I would be a 20/21 if I did ) and the other 3 blokes had several "air swings" each during the day, so I held the team together.

Was average off the tee, which is the opposite to what you need at Kooyonga, but I fired with anything under a 6 iron. Stuck 3 or 4 8 irons on the green inside 10 feet. One of my team mates could hardly hit a ball but putted like a champion, didnt look at the line, had no idea when I was talking about speed and he drained about 8 good puts from outside 6-8 feet. Saved our arses on three occasions.

We ended up 1 over and the winning side with a handicapper of 1, a 10 and two 22's was 6 under the card.

As always corporate days are about having a good time and this event also raises funds every year for the Royal Childrens Oncology Foundation which does research into childhood cancers. A bit over $5k raised by all on the day.

Dinner, beers and home in bed by 9, a little pissed.
